Job Description Job Classification Shipping & Receiving Truck Driver Work Unit Statler Commissary Status Probationary Full-Time UnionMay incur lay-offs during University recess periods FLSA Status Full-Time, Non-Exempt, Hourly Starting Rate $20.56/hr (Union Employees: See Appendix u201cAu201d of Union contract) Benefits Benefits Included Present Schedule Sat/Mon/Tues/Wed/Fri: 9:00am-5:00pm Note that stated hours and days may vary u2013 Mandatory overtime, as required, in the Union Contract Position Summary Perform routine manual tasks in regard to ensuring all deliveries are made to their locations, on time. Primary responsibility is to load and unload trucks, safely deliver product to proper locations on campus, in a timely manner. This position will also help empty composting and trash compactor machines by following established procedures Job Assignments u00b7 Prepare, load, and unload CDS trucks. u00b7 Drive to and from assignments, transporting product, supplies, employees, linens, and equipment. u00b7 Responsible for safe operation of CDS vehicles, keeping cab & cargo areas neat & clean. u00b7 Keeping dock and receiving areas neat and clean. u00b7 Keeping vehicles and their keys in their assigned places. u00b7 Maintain high sanitary, hygienic, and safety standards and conditions. u00b7 Must work consistently and productively during entire shift. u00b7 General cleaning, other food service duties, and projects as requested by management. Job Requirements u00b7 Employee must have a valid NYS Driver License and submit to A Department of Transportation (DOT) physical examination, in order to obtain a DOT card. Company drug screen testing also required. u00b7 Ability to obtain a forklift license upon employment. u00b7 Valid NYS driveru2019s license with clean, safe driving record and proven experience with a single-axle, 18,000-pound truck. u00b7 Must pass a third-party truck driving assessment upon hire u00b7 Demonstrate ability to maneuver trucks in and out of tight loading areas. u00b7 Must be able to lift and carry food, supplies, and/or other equipment weighing 50+ lbs. without assistance. Must be in good physical condition to get in/out of trucks throughout the workday, as well as ability to walk, stand, bend and reach, as the job requires. u00b7 Minimum of one year of customer service experience required and have excellent customer service skills. u00b7 Experience in safe food handling, preventing food-borne illness, and sanitation techniques preferred. u00b7 Must be able to communicate well with customers and management. u00b7 Must be able to prioritize work and execute tasks with speed, efficiency, and accuracy, in a high-volume environment. u00b7 Ability to work independently and part of a team to fulfill customer orders. u00b7 Must demonstrate excellent customer service. u00b7 Must be able to speak, read, and write English, and have accurate math skills. u00b7 Must have reliable transportation and attendance u00b7 Must have professional appearance, demeanor, and hygiene. Work Environment u00b7 The work environment can be loud and busy. There is exposure to kitchen hazards such as hot surfaces and liquids, sharp knives, and slippery surfaces. u00b7 The position operates in a kitchen environment where the employee is frequently exposed to heat, steam, fire, noise as well as extreme temperatures in coolers and freezers. Physical and Mental Demands u00b7 The position is very active and the employee must be able to stand and walk for a minimum of 8 hours. u00b7 The employee is occasionally required to sit; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, bend, stretch, twist, or reach out. u00b7 While performing the duties of the job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. u00b7 The position requires manual dexterity; auditory and visual skills; and the ability to follow written and oral instructions and procedures. u00b7 The employee must have the ability to use hands to finger, manipulate fingers; and reach with hands and arms, to stir, measure, pour, cut, chop, dice, and decorate, etc. u00b7 The position requires working taste buds, ability to smell, feel with fingers and visually inspect, include close and distance vision. u00b7 The employee must frequently lift and or move up to 25 lbs. and occasionally lift and or move up to 50 lbs.
