Pacific States Marine Fisheries Commission is seeking candidates to fillthe role of Accounts Payable Technician located at the headquartersoffice in Portland, Oregon. The incumbent should be versed in accountingsystems, policies, and procedures to perform the examination,verification, and maintenance of accounts and accounting data. Employeesapply various accounting methods, forms, and techniques, but less thanthe broad understanding and theoretical knowledge of accounting acquiredthrough professional education and training. Essential Functions: (Thefunctions listed below are characteristic of the type and level of workassociated with this group and pay band. They are not dividual positions may perform some or all, as well as other similarwork.) Verify and process vendor invoices, ensure that all invoices areaccurate and properly documented. Compare vendor statements with companyrecords to ensure accuracy and process payments to vendor in timelymanner. Verify, research, and assign accounting codes and information.Determine the GL accounts, journals, and subsidiary accounts affectedand the debit and credit entries to be made. Assist with monthlyclose-outs. Reconcile detail ledger accounts to the general ledgercontrol accounts. Review travel vouchers for accuracy and completeness.Assign accounting codes. Process reimbursements to travelers. PrepareRent allocation journal entry every payroll. Assist Accountant withresearch imbalances and propose adjustments to Assist annual audit byproviding requested documentation and records to auditors. Other dutiesas assigned. Knowledge Required by the Position: At the lower end of therange, the Accounts Payable Technician must have: Knowledge of thevarious steps and procedures related to recurring or standardizedKnowledge of the automated databases sufficient to input a range ofstandard information or adjustments, to understand recurring errorreports, to take corrective action, and to generate a variety ofstandard reports. Knowledge of the structure and content of accounting,budget, or other related documents to investigate and resolve routine orrecurring discrepancies, check documents for adequacy, or performcomparable actions that are covered by established procedures. At theupper end of the range, the Accounts Payable Technician has broad,in-depth practical knowledge of the steps, conditions, procedures andprocess to assemble, review, and maintain complex accountingtransactions. This includes: Knowledge to perform extensive balancingand reconciling of detailed summary accounts; resolve problems inbalancing accounts; adjust complex discrepancies; develop controlrecords; and review contract provisions, purchase orders, and travelorders against claims for payments to assure compliance with terms.
