Job Title: Composite Technician Job Description We are seeking dedicated Level II and Level III Composite Technicians to join our team. After completing a comprehensive training program, you will work under general supervision in a dynamic and loud manufacturing environment. This role involves performing repetitive or standard procedures to assist in the fabrication, curing, build-up, and assembly of various composite materials. You will work with blueprints, templates, sample parts, and process sheets, ensuring precision and quality in every task. Responsibilities + Assist in the preparation of molds and forms. + Mark and cut tape, woven material, honeycomb, adhesive, and similar materials following templates, guides, or specific dimensions and sequences. + Route, drill, trim, and sand materials to blueprint dimensions and tolerances. + Vacuum bag parts for room temperature cure. + Assist in the lay-up of composite materials to mold. + Fit and smooth successive layers of materials to avoid wrinkles, air pockets, and voids. + Assemble aircraft components using structural adhesives, rivets, and threaded fasteners. + Prepare surfaces and paint composite and metal components, including bodywork and contour shaping. + Apply epoxy paints, urethane, and water-based epoxy coatings using a high-volume low-pressure spray gun. + Assist in developing shop aids to facilitate fabrication, trimming, and assembly. + Check expiration dates of materials, prepare mixes of resins and catalysts. + Monitor and verify quality according to statistical process or other control procedures. + Maintain records and ensure the work area is orderly, returning tools and materials to storage. + Observe all laws, regulations, and obligations during business operations. + Work safely according to established procedures. Essential Skills + Experience with composites, manufacturing, layup, lamination, and blueprints. + Proficiency in vacuum bagging, aerospace, autoclave, fabrication, prepreg, and carbon fiber. + Strong work ethic and stability in past roles. + Ability to communicate verbally and comprehend written and verbal instructions. + Skill in reading detailed blueprints and performing simple mathematical calculations. + Proficiency with hand tools such as rollers, paper cutters, scissors, x-acto knives, electric heat guns, and fixtures like molds and mandrels. + Ability to use measuring instruments such as scales, protractors, and calipers. + Respirator certification may be required. Additional Skills & Qualifications + Familiarity with assembly, fabrication, or mechanics. + Ability to work in a loud environment, with extended hours as required. + Physical ability to lift assemblies weighing up to 50 lbs. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of San Diego, CA. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $25.50 - $31.00/hr.
