Sr. Staff Accountant

Description We are looking for an experienced Sr. Staff Accountant to join a dynamic team in New Orleans, Louisiana. In this contract to permanent role, you will have the opportunity to contribute to the financial success of a growing company within the mortgage industry. This position is ideal for someone who pays close attention to detail and excels in financial reporting, compliance, and reconciliation processes. Responsibilities: u2022 Prepare and record complex journal entries and reconcile accounts, including areas such as payroll, cash, and prepaid expenses. u2022 Develop monthly balance sheets and income statement analyses to support management decision-making. u2022 Participate in month-end, quarter-end, and year-end financial close activities, including creating and maintaining close workbooks. u2022 Implement and monitor internal controls and accounting procedures to ensure compliance with regulatory standards. u2022 Maintain fixed asset ledgers, depreciation schedules, and perform related reconciliations. u2022 Update capital lease payment schedules and ensure their accuracy on a monthly basis. u2022 Analyze financial data and present insights in a clear and actionable manner. u2022 Handle intercompany transactions, billing processes, and corresponding reconciliations. u2022 Collaborate with external auditors during quarterly reviews and annual audits to ensure smooth processes. u2022 Contribute to special projects and support department-wide initiatives as needed. Requirements u2022 Bacheloru2019s degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or a related field is preferred. u2022 At least 2 years of accounting experience with a strong focus on accuracy and attention to detail. u2022 Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and familiarity with other relevant software tools. u2022 Experience working with accounting platforms. u2022 Strong analytical skills with exceptional attention to detail. u2022 Excellent organizational abilities paired with effective written and verbal communication skills. u2022 Capability to meet critical deadlines and work independently in a fast-paced environment. u2022 Solid understanding of accounts payable, accounts receivable, bank reconciliations, and general accounting procedures.
