Job Description

+ JOB DESCRIPTION Provides peer support services for members with behavioral health needs/chemical dependency issues. In collaboration with multidisciplinary care team working across the continuum, strives to ensure member progress toward desired outcomes, and contributes to overarching strategy to provide quality and cost-effective member care. Essential Job Duties u2022 Serves as peer support for members with behavioral health issues, psychiatric disorders, chemical dependency issues and/or physical illnesses. u2022 Serves as member advocate - provides information, resources, and peer support for members in outpatient and inpatient settings. u2022 Assists members in setting and pursuing recovery goals and works with care managers and/or treatment team to determine the steps needed to achieve goals. u2022 Local travel may be required (based upon state/contractual requirements). Required Qualifications + Must have Michigan Department of Health and Human Services (MDHHS) Certified Peer Support Specialist Certification.u2022 At least 1 year health care experience, preferably in a peer support capacity, or equivalent combination of relevant education and experience. + u2022Valid and unrestricted driver's license, reliable transportation, and adequate auto insurance for job related travel requirements. u2022 Demonstrated knowledge of community resources. u2022 Knowledge of recovery processes and the ability to facilitate recovery using established standardized behavioral health processes. u2022 Ability and skill to teach and engage in basic problem-solving strategies to support individual members in their self-directed recovery. u2022 Strong attention to detail. u2022 Ability to multi-task between phone and various computer systems. u2022 Ability to communicate with members on the phone or in-person and translate accurate information into contact notes. u2022 Excellent verbal and written communication skills. u2022 Microsoft Office suite/applicable software program(s) proficiency. Preferred Qualifications u2022 Certified Peer Support Specialist (CPSS). u2022 Electronic medical records (EMR) system experience. u2022 Managed care experience. u2022 Peer support experience. u2022 Experience in psychiatric unit or behavioral health facility. u2022 Knowledge of Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA).
