ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Responsible forplanning, preparing, and delivering instruction and assessment oflearning outcomes. Utilize engaging instructional strategies andmethodologies which foster student success both in and outside of theclassroom. Maintain accurate student records and communication. Adviseand support students as a mentor and role model in the achievement oftheir learning and career goals. This includes being accessible tostudents outside of scheduled classroom time. Provide educationalleadership and work effectively with faculty, administration, and campussupport staff. Maintain Faculty Quality Assurance System requirementsand licensure required by other agencies to maintain individual andprogram accreditation. Comply with College policies and practicesrelated to instruction, assessment, and delivery. Additional duties andresponsibilities will be discussed as needs arise. Additional Duties andResponsibilities: Develops and delivers didactic/lecture and practicalskills training in the core content of the Wisconsin-approved Fire MedicAAS degree, Fire Protection Technician AAS degree and Fire ScienceTechnical Diploma programs at NWTC. Delivers didactic/lecture andpractical skills training in all other Wisconsin-aligned fire-relatedcourses. Coordinates all aspects of the Fire Science Technical Diplomaprogram and other fire-related training. Develops fire-related trainingutilizing fire-specific resources provided by NWTC including but notlimited to fire apparatus/pumper, the NWTC Burn Tower and otherfirefighting appliances/equipment. Instructs in the followingfire-related topic ar as: fire apparatus driver/operator, firefightingprinciples, fire protection hydraulics, principles of emergencyservices, hazardous materials, fire department management, firedetection/suppression systems, fire inspection, fire investigation, fireprevention, pre-fire planning. Coordinates/supports all members of theNWTC fire adjunct faculty in the delivery of fire-related training.Works closely with local fire departments to coordinate all aspects ofthe fire internship program. OTHER EXPERIENCE ANDQUALIFICATIONS: MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND WORK EXPERIENCE Associatedegree in an appropriate field (Fire Protection, Fire Science, FireSuppression, Fire Technology, or other fire-related educationalbackground) and three (3) years of experience in professionalfirefighting or fire ground operations. At a minimum, occupationalexperience has to have occurred at least 1 year within the last 5 years.Certification in Emergency Services Instructor I is required, EmergencyServices Instructor II preferred Firefighter 1, Firefighter 2, DriverOperator Pumper, Fire Officer 1 certifications required. Class B CDLrequired. Class A CDL preferred. Ability to work non-standard hoursincluding evening and weekend hours. Must hold a valid driver's licenseand be insurable under the districts standard insurance policy terms.Employment is conditional on the completion of a background check anddrug test with acceptable results. PHYSICALDEMANDS Mobility: Ability to move around the campus to attend meetingsand events. In addition, must be able to work in, on, around, over andunder fixed equipment and machinery. May be required to work from lifts,ladders, and scaffolding. Manual Dexterity: Proficiency in using handsand fingers to handle or operate office equipment, tools, controls,and/or heavy equipment and machinery. Capability to push, pull, and/ormaneuver equipment as needed. PPE: To wear and work in personnelprotective equipment as needed. Heavy Lifting: Capability to lift andcarry up to 50 pounds regularly, and occasionally up to 100 pounds withassistance. Visual and Auditory: Ability to read documents andcommunicate effectively with students and staff.
