CTG's long-standing Fortune 500 client of over 15 years has a W2 contract assignment for an Additive Manufacturing & XR Lab Specialist. Type: Contract Job Title: Additive Manufacturing & XR Lab Specialist Location: Wilmington, NC _Candidates must be able to commute and work onsite in Wilmington, NC_ Pay Rate: Based on experience Work Hours: M-F 8amu20135pm Education: Associate degree (AOS/AAS/AS) in Drafting, CAD, or a related technical field Top Skills + General Mechanical Abilities + Tech Savvy Description We are seeking a hands-on technical specialist to operate and maintain a Digital Fabrication & XR Lab. This role supports additive manufacturing, optical scanning, VR/XR design reviews, and drone scanning activities. The specialist will operate a Bambu 3D printer farm, manage a Keyence optical scanner, support VR systems (HTC Vive and Meta Quest 3), facilitate design review sessions, and ensure safe, efficient lab operations. This position is ideal for a technically curious professional who enjoys learning new technologies and training others. Requirements: 3D Print Farm (Bambu) u2022 Operate, monitor, and maintain a multi-printer Bambu fleet, including setup, calibration, firmware updates, and routine/advanced maintenance. u2022 Train users on correct printing workflows, including model preparation, slicing, material selection, bed preparation, and post-processing. u2022 Execute and prioritize print jobs, balancing the queue to meet delivery timelines. u2022 Manage filament and consumables inventory, usage tracking, and cost logging. u2022 Maintain print quality standards through testing, preventive maintenance, and issue tracking. u2022 Preferred experience using Bambu Studio and Bambu Farm Manager in LAN-first configurations. Optical Scanning (Keyence) u2022 Operate and maintain the Keyence optical scanner, including calibration, software updates, and lens/camera care. u2022 Perform part and fixture scans, generate inspection and measurement data, and assist users with setup and result interpretation. u2022 Develop quick-reference guides and train users on proper scanner operation. VR/XR Lab Operations u2022 Maintain HTC Vive systems and high-performance workstations, including GPU drivers, SteamVR updates, tracking hardware, and room calibration. u2022 Prepare and run Autodesk VRED sessions for full-scale design reviews, managing scenes, variants, lighting, and markups. u2022 Configure and support Meta Quest 3 headsets used with Autodesk XR experiences, including device imaging and onboarding. u2022 Track headset inventory, accessories, cleaning protocols, and check-in/check-out processes. Design Reviews & Safety u2022 Organize and facilitate cross-functional design review sessions, including scheduling, room setup, and action item tracking. u2022 Act as safety lead during lab sessions, enforcing PPE, SOPs, and access controls. Drone Scanning Support u2022 Assist with planning and executing drone capture sessions, including equipment checks, batteries, and media handling. u2022 Support basic point cloud or mesh processing and data handoff to engineering teams. Lab Administration & Continuous Improvement u2022 Develop and maintain SOPs, quick-start guides, and troubleshooting documentation. u2022 Track KPIs such as printer uptime, queue times, and training completions. u2022 Coordinate vendor support and RMAs; collaborate with IT and EHS for compliance and safety. Qualifications u2022 Hands-on experience with FDM/FFF 3D printers, including setup, slicing, maintenance, and troubleshooting. u2022 Experience training users and providing customer-service-oriented technical support. u2022 Working knowledge of Windows workstations, basic networking (LAN/Wi-Fi), and device management. u2022 Ability to read basic mechanical drawings and understand tolerances and inspection concepts. u2022 Experience operating VR systems in a lab or demo environment with strong attention to safety. u2022 Strong organizational skills to manage scheduling, inventory, and documentation.
