Description We are looking for an experienced Assistant Controller to oversee key financial and accounting operations at a local university. This role supports the Controller in managing accounting functions, ensuring compliance with policies, and maintaining high standards of financial reporting. The ideal candidate will bring expertise in fund accounting, financial management, and tax preparation, along with a collaborative approach to leadership. Responsibilities: u2022 Supervise various financial operations, including financial reporting, tax preparation, and accounts payable. u2022 Manage fund accounting for endowments, restricted funds, and plant funds. u2022 Collaborate with the Controller to establish and implement university financial policies and standards. u2022 Ensure compliance with GAAP and other regulatory requirements in all accounting functions. u2022 Oversee the Bursaru2019s Office and provide guidance on financial transactions. u2022 Evaluate financial systems and recommend improvements to optimize workflows. u2022 Analyze contracts and grant proposals to assess financial feasibility and operational impact. u2022 Support the preparation and coordination of financial audits, ensuring accuracy and timeliness. u2022 Develop and implement short- and long-term financial goals in alignment with organizational objectives. u2022 Foster a cooperative work environment and lead efforts to build high-performing teams. Thank you Requirements u2022 Bacheloru2019s degree in Accounting is required. u2022 Active Certified Public Accountant (CPA) certification or eligibility to obtain. u2022 Minimum of 10 years of accounting experience, preferably in a large organization. u2022 Strong knowledge of fund accounting principles and GAAP standards. u2022 Proven ability to lead and develop high-performing teams. u2022 Experience in financial reporting, tax preparation, and accounts payable. u2022 Knowledge of university or non-profit financial operations is preferred. u2022 Excellent analytical, communication, and decision-making skills.
