Assistant Controller

Description We are looking for an experienced Assistant Controller to join our team in Newport Beach, California. This role is vital to ensuring the accuracy and integrity of our financial operations, including overseeing accounting processes, financial reporting, and compliance. The ideal candidate will bring a detail-oriented approach to managing budgets, payroll, and tax requirements while contributing to the overall success of the organization. Responsibilities: u2022 Supervise and manage all aspects of the accounting function, ensuring accuracy and compliance with relevant standards. u2022 Prepare and analyze financial statements to ensure timely and accurate reporting. u2022 Oversee month-end close processes, ensuring all transactions are properly recorded in the general ledger. u2022 Coordinate and support financial audits, including DCAA audits, to ensure compliance with regulations. u2022 Manage payroll operations, ensuring timely and accurate processing. u2022 Monitor and enforce tax compliance, including preparation and submission of required filings. u2022 Develop and maintain budgets, providing insights and recommendations for financial planning. u2022 Utilize QuickBooks Online to manage accounting records and processes efficiently. u2022 Ensure adherence to best practices in financial reporting and accounting procedures. u2022 Collaborate with internal teams to improve financial processes and systems. Requirements u2022 Proven experience in accounting or financial management roles, preferably within the construction industry. u2022 Expertise in month-end close procedures and general ledger management. u2022 Strong knowledge of financial statement preparation and audits, including DCAA requirements. u2022 Proficiency in financial reporting and analysis. u2022 Hands-on experience with QuickBooks Online or similar accounting software. u2022 Solid understanding of payroll processes and tax compliance. u2022 Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with attention to detail. u2022 Excellent communication and organizational skills to manage multiple priorities effectively.
