Through collaboration, compassion, and accountability, we help patients rebuild their livesPosition SummaryThe Chief Operating Officer (COO) - Houston Market serves as the senior market-level operations leader, supporting the Market CEO in overseeing and aligning non-clinical and operational performance across Nexus Children’s Hospital - Houston, Nexus Children’s Hospital - Shenandoah, and Nexus Children’s Hospital - The Woodlands.This role functions as the Market CEO’s operational partner, responsible for ensuring effective day-to-day operations, financial stewardship, workforce alignment, and cross-campus consistency. The COO works in close collaboration with the Market Chief Clinical Officer (CCO), who holds responsibility for clinical operations and clinical quality, to ensure operational execution supports high-quality patient care.Key ResponsibilitiesMarket Operations LeadershipOversee and coordinate daily non-clinical and operational functions across all three campuses, ensuring consistency, efficiency, and alignment with market priorities.Partner with hospital administrators and department leaders to optimize staffing models, operational workflows, scheduling, and throughput.Lead cross-campus operational initiatives focused on efficiency, safety, service delivery, and patient experience.Serve as a key connector between the Market CEO and facility leadership teams to support execution of operational goals and initiatives.Strategic Support & ExecutionCollaborate with the Market CEO and Market CCO to support market-level strategic priorities and operational planning.Translate strategic direction into actionable operational plans, timelines, and performance expectations.Support business development efforts, service expansion, and capital projects from an operational readiness and execution perspective.Financial & Performance ManagementSupport development and oversight of facility operating budgets in partnership with finance and facility leadership.Monitor operational and financial performance indicators, identifying trends, risks, and opportunities for improvement.Drive productivity, cost-control, and operational efficiency initiatives while supporting quality and safety objectives.Leadership & CulturePromote a collaborative, accountable, and mission-driven culture across the Houston Market.Coach and develop operational leaders and department managers to strengthen leadership effectiveness and consistency.Partner with HR and leadership teams on workforce planning, employee engagement, and retention pliance & Operational QualityEnsure operational compliance with applicable regulatory, safety, and accreditation requirements in coordination with quality and clinical leadership.Partner with the Market CCO and quality teams to support survey readiness, operational standards, and continuous improvement efforts.Identify operational risks and support proactive problem-solving to minimize disruption to patient care.QualificationsBachelor’s degree in Healthcare Administration, Business Administration, or related field required; Master’s degree preferred.7+ years of progressive healthcare operations leadership experience, preferably in a multi-site or market-based hospital environment.Demonstrated experience leading operational teams, managing budgets, and driving performance improvement initiatives.Strong collaborative leadership style with the ability to work effectively alongside clinical executives.Working knowledge of healthcare regulations, accreditation standards, and operational best practices.Work LocationBased in the Greater Houston area with regular on-site presence across all three hospital campuses.
