These will usually be smaller commercial construction projects and deal with HVAC/ Commercial HVAC and Sheet MetalEssential Functions:Responsible for the complete assembly of all estimates on projects assigned to you, for various trades, from the time that plans and specs are issued to bid day. Majority focus is on HVACSolicit subcontractor and vendor quotations to ensure coverage on all scopes of workReview all construction documents including instructions to bidders, scope of work, and general conditionsDistribute plans, specifications, and addenda to subcontractors and vendors via company ftp website and/or emailAssist in development of bid strategiesParticipate in pre-bid meetings and site visits which may result in travel time on occasionsPrepare detailed estimates by reviewing take-off and pricing for completeness on all self-performed workReview in detail subcontractor and vendor quotations for full compliance with the plans and specificationsDevelop rough draft scope of work for proposalsAssist in negotiating subcontracts and procurement of materials and equipmentEnter estimate into job cost control program and participate in turnover/transition meetings with the operations teamExperience in providing budgets, estimates, construction schedules, and manpower projectionsWork as part of a team and coordinate scope of work between in-house tradesMust be a self-starter, able to multi-task, work with minimal supervision, show attention to detail and demonstrate problem-solving skillsPerforms other duties as assignedSupervisory Responsibility: NoRequired:2+ years' trades estimating experience in commercial and/or industrial construction projects or equivalent combination of education and experience 1+ years' Estimating/Pre-Construction experience. If candidate has strong knowledge of commercial HVAC equipment, ACI can train into estimating. Demonstrate knowledge and efficiency in computer/network based estimating software (i.e. Autobid, Quote Soft, TSI, Estimation, etc.)Advanced knowledge of assigned discipline, estimating techniques and cost control, plus ability to interpret computerized cost data and systemsUnderstanding and capable of construction assembliesStrong technical writing and verbal communication skillsProficient in Microsoft Office Suite Must be able to meet critical deadlinesMust adhere to all company policy and proceduresMust be available to work assigned schedules The work environment and physical demands required would be representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job, and may include, but are not limited to the following: Work Environment:Works in a professional office environment and routinely uses standard office equipment Position will require visits to construction and industrial work sites Physical Demands:This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopier, filing cabinets and fax machines. Site visits will require walking through existing buildings, industrial plants and/or on-going construction sites. This will involve stairs and at times ladders on multiple floors/levels. Travel:May require infrequent travel (typically not overnight)Preferred:AAS or BS Degree in Engineering, Construction Management or other related disciplinePrior military experiencePipe Estimator , Plumbing Estimator , Sheet Metal Estimator , HVAC
