In this influential role, you will drive technical quality across major transportation projects, mentor emerging engineers, and contribute to the evolution of safe, efficient, and future‑ready highway and rail systems.Lead the technical execution of complex engineering designs, technical reports, and specifications for highway and rail projectsProvide expert consultation and resolve highly complex technical issues across multidiscipline transportation projectsLead advanced technical projects, collaborating with other engineering departments and project management staff to deliver sustainable solutionsDevelop and manage discipline work plans aligned with project milestones, ensuring projects are completed within budget and scheduling restraintsGuide and mentor junior engineering staff, including providing technical reviews and supportDeliver technical development of proposals and external presentations to clients, public, and regulatory agenciesBachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering requiredMinimum of 10 years progressive engineering experience required; roadway or hydraulic design experience preferredSCDOT experience preferredProfessional Engineer (PE) license requiredExpert knowledge of the respective engineering discipline with a proven ability to apply best practicesAdvanced proficiency with engineering, computational, and modeling software (Revit, AutoCAD, MicroStation, etc.)Strong understanding of QA/QC procedures, business practices, and engineering lawsDemonstrated leadership skills and ability to work effectively in a collaborative environmentExcellent verbal and written communication skillsParticipation in professional engineering societies/organizations preferredServe as a technical leader within the transportation discipline, leading challenging highway and rail projects that elevate the safety, efficiency, and resilience of transportation systemsMake a meaningful impact while mentoring the next generation of engineering talentCollaborate with multidisciplinary teams in a flexible, supportive work environmentCurious about the impactful work our Highway & Rail team is doing?
