When you join us as a Field Engineer, you will help support a national effort that implements and preforms design and construction of infrastructure improvements to provide accessibility to Amtraku2019s intercity rail support system. In this role you will be responsible for providing on-site construction monitoring of several concurrent construction contracts from mobilization through final acceptance of contractors work and contract closeout.The Field Engineer is the primary on-site representative for the Contracting Officialu2019s Technical Representative / Resident Engineer (COTR/RE). Youu2019ll be responsible for monitoring the contractors performance of the work, preparing reports and other documentation of the contractoru2019s work, and providing technical advice to the COTR/RE. The Field Engineer will work directly with the COTR/RE on projects throughout the continental U.S. working on-site approximately 80% of the time. Off-site work will make up approximately 20% of your working time. This role will require travel of one- or two-week duration typically. The final candidate could be located in a variety of locations in California or Washington.As a key member of the team, youu2019ll be responsible for encouraging and supporting a culture of safety on all projects assuring that the work is executed in accordance with the contract as well as good engineering and construction practices. The successful candidate will be able to verify the contractors work is in conformance with the applicable contract drawings and specifications and preform on-site quality oversight inspections of the contractorsu2019 work. You will be asked to provide various written daily inspection reports that document on-site activities and document deviations from the contract requirements or any performance or technical deficiencies by the contractor. Additionally, you will prepare Accessibility Survey Assessment System (ASAS) forms as work is completed to document compliancy with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).Additional responsibilities in this role will include:u2022 Assisting with post-construction assessments of the work to verify compliance with the contract and the ADA.u2022 Retaining all project reports and documentation in the Unifier document control system.u2022 Participating in weekly contract progress meetings.u2022 Inspecting the contractoru2019s performance of warranty work during the contractu2019s warranty period.u2022 Providing on-site support to the COTR/RE and assisting with various activities.This position requires the following physical activities: Remain standing for prolonged periods. Frequently move about to accomplish tasks and alternating sitting and standing. Kneel, crouch, bend, stoop or maneuver in different positions to take measurements and accomplish visual inspections Ascend or descend ladders, stairs, scaffolding and ramps Walk across uneven terrain and step over or around physical obstructions Work outdoors in low or high temperatures, precipitation and wind. Work environment may be noisy. Reach overhead with hands higher than head and elbow extended 120 degrees or more Carry, lift, push, pull or move objects up to 20 pounds Grasp hand tools and measuring devices and repeat motions that may include wrists, hands, and fingers#LM1236 u2022 Minimum of 6-8 yearsu2019 experience as a field inspector providing construction oversite and inspection experience on site development or transportation projects, specifically civil/structuralu2022 Construction oversite and inspection experience with a focus on facility renovation, historic preservation, rail transportation and ADA complianceu2022 High School Diploma or GED Equivalentu2022 Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suiteu2022 Willingness and ability to travel to project locations in the continental U.S. approximately 80% of working timeu2022 Possess a valid driving license and satisfactory driving recordu2022 Strong communication skillsIdeally, you'll also have:u2022 Associateu2019s Degree in Architecture, Construction Management, or Engineeringu2022 CCM or PMPJacobs is an Equal Opportunity/Affirmative Action Employer.
