Job Description

The Staff Audiologist oversees the Hearing Conservation and all related audiology training and education at the QP Electric Boat Facility in collaboration with the Manager of Occupational Health & Audiology and the Medical Director. The Staff Audiologist works closely in collaboration with the Groton Staff Audiologist to provide oversight and consistency to the Hearing Conservation Program.Audiology Duties and ResponsibilitiesDiagnostic and routine audiology testing pertaining to OSHA requirements and worker’s compensation statusOversee OSHA hearing conservation program including all annual audiogramsAssess hearing loss and identify cause of lossUtilize audiometric tests and air/bone conduction tests for assessmentsCoordination of all audiogram testing for all EB locations Maintain regulatory compliance for OSHA testing Communicate among health care staff, EB work force, and EB management Analysis of data pertaining to trends regarding hearing loss and protectionKnowledge of laws and regulations that govern occupation and environment hearing programsMedical background to treat auditory injuries and illness Assessment of needs for restrictions and accommodations within the work environmentEducation of employees on importance of hearing protection. Design and implement specific job related interactive training for employees in the Hearing Conservation ProgramTrain clinical support staff as CAHOC technicians and recertify per scheduleCompletion of monthly audiology reportsWork Hours/ LocationEight-hour shift. Shifts subject to change.
