Job Description

Essential Duties and Responsibilities• Provide communication with the Division Chief and Site Supervisor on safety related topics.• Adheres to the U.S. Army Core Values. Complies with applicable laws, regulations and policies governing safety, workplace violence, sexual harassment, harassment, and equal employment. Works to ensure a safe, positive work environment, fostering teamwork, trust and respect. Promptly and consistently reports noncompliance to supervisor. Resolves disagreements in a professional manner at the appropriate level and in accordance with the chain of command.• Inspect fire extinguishers/first-aid kits/Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs).• Confirm chemical/flammable cabinets are being kept in compliance with Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) and U.S. Army policies.• Establish a calendar of areas/items that require regular inspections (chemical cabinets, cranes, floor jacks, jack stands, forklifts, etc.) that have safety implications.• Confirm oil temporary storage is being kept in compliance with storage regulations.• Ensure the Division is compliant with customer safety processes (Test Safety Risk Assessments (TSRAs), Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), OSHA regulations, U.S. Army/customer policies and regulations). Ensure that SOPs and TSRAs do not expire and adequately plan for renewal process.• Ensure appropriate personnel retain current Ammo certifications. Ensure personnel remain in date on all certifications (forklift, crane operations, first aid, etc.).• Ensure division is compliant with Arms, Ammunition, and Explosives regulations for storage, handling, and transporting.• Confirms that all personnel sign the Supervisor/Operator Statement and are following the procedures detailed in the TSRAs and SOPs.• Works with process owners in the development of work procedures and SOP revisions.• Attend quality audits.• Conduct a monthly safety meeting.• Conduct fire drills as required.• Ensure inert items are in compliance with customer policies.• TSRA/SOPs expectations.o Ensure SOP/TSRA Operating Instruction requirements are adhered too.o For repetitive TSRAs (when possible) observe the operations to ensure all risks and mitigations are appropriate. Ensure the likelihood and severity is properly reflected.o For repetitive TSRAs/SOPs pre-fill out the new TSRA/SOPs and evaluate any new hazards before including the test engineer in the process.• If a near miss or incident occurs, ensure communications are conducted correctly and timely. Complete all needed documentation to record incidents and near misses.• Input, maintain, and resolve items on the Hazard Log.• Evaluate housekeeping of area occupied by personnel to prevent trip hazards, fire hazards, dust control, falling objects, and cluttered areas.• Ensure PPE is available per the requirements specified in the TSRAs and SOPs.• Ensure personnel are aware and in compliance with fall protection guidelines.• Participate in any pre-mission safety briefs related to testing.When encountered with a perceived safety related issue, clearly define the problem, utilizing critical thinking evaluate potential course of actions (COA), communicate issue and COAsExperience, Education, and Licensure• HS Diploma/GED.• Minimum of five (5) years of experience directly related to industrial, facility, and personal safety and environmental programs.• Shall have familiarity with Army safety and environmental publications and regulations and have experience in drafting policies and procedures from DoD, federal, state, and local government safety and environmental regulations for application at the organization level.Preferred Education and Experience• Professional user of Microsoft’s Office suite of software and applications (e.g., Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio), as well as SharePoint.Reasonable AccommodationsReasonable accommodation may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the following essential functions.Supervisor ResponsibilityThere is none, but the employee may be a coach and mentor for other employees.Work EnvironmentProfessional office in which typical office equipment and information technology is used.Physical RequirementsNecessary to perform the essential functions: able to see, hear, and speak; lift objects weighing up to 50 pounds; sit for extended time; and use a personal computer and typical peripheral devices.TravelNone.Work Authorization/Security ClearanceDoD Secret or higher security clearance, or the ability to obtain and maintain a Secret clearance. U.S. Citizenship is required.Additional Qualifying Factors:Must have the ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance.
