Summary This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program. You must meet specific eligibility requirements per VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment. Program Approval, award amount (up to $200,000) & eligibility period (one to five years) are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office after review of the EDRP application. Former EDRP participants ineligible to apply. Responsibilities VA Careers - Social Work: VA Careers - Licensed Clinical Social Worker: Total Rewards of a Allied Health Professional The incumbent provides social work services and case management services for Veterans with behavioral health diagnoses as an integral part of the outpatient Behavioral Health Interdisciplinary Program (BHIP) team. As a member of a the BHIP team, the incumbent will conduct psychosocial assessments, provide crisis intervention, and clinical case management, as well as work with the Veteran and the BHIP team to establish treatment plans. This position will work particularly with veterans with SUD. PROVISION OF SOCIAL WORK SERVICES (85% of time) Incumbent independently conducts assessments, evaluating the psychosocial functioning and needs of patients and their families to formulate and implement a treatment plan, identifying needs, strengths and coping skills in collaboration with the patient and family as appropriate. Incumbent will provide triage assessment, crisis intervention, brief counseling, and evidence based individual and group psychotherapy for Veterans with a broad spectrum of diagnoses, including depressive disorders, anxiety disorders, trauma related conditions, substance abuse conditions, and personality disorders. Incumbent will provide same day access for Veterans seeking to initiate care and will also provide assertive community outreach for Suicide Prevention. Incumbent provides case management and social work services to Veterans. The incumbent coordinates care and assures that Veterans receive needed services to increase functionality, independence, and quality of life. Incumbent sets clinical care goals in collaboration with the patient, monitors progress toward goals, and works to achieve outcomes, including reduced hospitalizations. The incumbent will serve collaboratively on a Behavioral Health Interdisciplinary Program team and assist with consult management. Incumbent recognizes complex situations that impact patient care and intervenes, using sound judgment and appropriate resources. ENRICHING ELEMENTS (ACADEMIC/TRAINING/TEACHING) (5% of time)(all elements may not apply) Incumbent provides education and consultation to staff, students, patients, and families regarding programs and serves as a point of contact for the community for these programs. Incumbent remains current on VA policies and procedures relevant to program areas. Incumbent works with team to meet goals and performance measures within program. Incumbent may provide training opportunities to various disciplines. Incumbent may participate in the training of Social Work Students. OTHER SIGNIFICANT RESPONSIBILITIES (10% of time) Incumbent will attend appropriate team meetings (Behavioral Health Interdisciplinary Program huddles and meetings, Behavioral Health/Recovery Services, social work, etc.) and work closely with patients' providers and other team members to effectively coordinate care. Incumbent establishes collaborative relationships with behavioral health providers particularly, as well as other team members and staff outside the department in order to more effectively coordinate patients' care. Work Schedule: Monday through Friday, 8:00am-4:30pm Pay: Competitive salary and regular salary increases. When setting pay, a higher step rate of the appropriate grade may be determined after consideration of existing pay, higher or unique qualifications, or special needs of the VA (Above Minimum Rate of the Grade). Paid Time Off: 37-50 days of annual paid time offer per year (13-26 days of annual leave, 13 days of sick leave, 11 paid Federal holidays per year). Selected applicants may qualify for credit toward annual leave accrual, based on prior [work experience] or military service experience. Parental Leave: After 12 months of employment, up to 12 weeks of paid parental leave in connection with the birth, adoption, or foster care placement of a child. Child Care Subsidy: After 60 days of employment, full time employees with a total family income below $144,000 may be eligible for a childcare subsidy up to 25% of total eligible childcare costs for eligible children up to the monthly maximum of $416.66.
