Accountant

Description We are looking for an experienced Accountant to join our client's team in Saint Paul, Minnesota. This is a long-term contract position offering an opportunity to manage and maintain essential financial processes while contributing to the organizationu2019s mission of supporting priority communities. The ideal candidate will play a key role in ensuring accurate financial transactions, strong internal controls, and compliance with organizational policies. Responsibilities: u2022 Process accounts payable on a weekly basis and handle payroll and benefits administration bi-weekly. u2022 Verify grant and contract payments to ensure compliance with agreement terms. u2022 Manage contract payments weekly and oversee grant-related disbursements monthly. u2022 Prepare and reconcile journal entries, as well as month-end and quarter-end financial reports. u2022 Handle travel card transactions and employee expense reimbursements efficiently. u2022 Maintain accurate and organized financial records and documentation. u2022 Assist with the annual audit, tax filings, and other special financial projects. u2022 Manage and update the Paylocity payroll and benefits system as needed. u2022 Process bank deposits and ensure timely management of financial transactions. u2022 Provide training to new employees on timekeeping procedures, accounting forms, and benefits enrollment. Requirements u2022 Associate degree in accounting with at least five years of experience in payroll, accounts payable, and general ledger; a bacheloru2019s degree in accounting is preferred. u2022 Demonstrated ability to build trusting relationships and foster collaboration. u2022 Experience with automated accounting systems and familiarity with Microsoft Dynamics 365. u2022 Strong proficiency in spreadsheet tools and analytical skills with exceptional attention to detail. u2022 Excellent oral and written communication abilities. u2022 Commitment to the organizationu2019s values, including Justice, Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion. u2022 Familiarity with accounting software such as Fluxx, Expensify, and Paylocity. u2022 Previous experience working in a paperless environment is a plus.
