Mechanical Engineer

Job Title: Mechanical Engineer 3 Job Description The main function of a mechanical engineer is to research and investigate the design, functionality, and maintenance of mechanical products, equipment, systems, and processes. A typical mechanical engineer has the ability to make engineering drawings, and read and interpret blueprints. Responsibilities + Research, design, develop, manufacture, and test tools, engines, machines, and other mechanical devices. + Analyze customer design proposals, specifications, and manuals to determine the time and cost feasibility of completing projects. + Investigate equipment failures and difficulties to diagnose faulty operations and make recommendations to the maintenance crew. + Assist drafters in developing the structural design of products using tools, equipment, or software. + Support the Turbocharger applications team by collaborating with suppliers through APQP. + Collect requirements from the applications team, understand customer needs, and work with other teams to create functional requirements for suppliers to design, create, and validate products before production. + Support the salvage and reuse of turbochargers and conduct warranty analysis for gas-burning engines. Essential Skills + Creativity, verbal and written communication skills, analytical and problem-solving ability. + Ability to make sketches, engineering drawings, and common computations. + Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, schematics, and computer-generated reports. + Experience with computer applications and software related to the engineering field, such as Computer Aided Design (CAD). + Mechanical engineering and designing expertise. Additional Skills & Qualifications + Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or Aero Engineering. + 4+ years of experience (relevant experience could include APQP experience, turbocharger expereince, engine experiences, NPI experience, data analytics experience) + Strong verbal communication. + Project management experience. + Strong mechanical aptitude. Work Environment This position requires onsite work from 8 am to 4 pm, Monday to Friday. Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of Lafayette, IN. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $32.00 - $36.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
