Job Title: Structural Design Engineer Job Description Strong experience in mechanical design, particularly in primary structures. The successful candidate will engage in the conceptual design of complex kinematic solutions and have extensive experience in space vehicle design. This position involves guiding engineers and contributing to the structural architecture definition by identifying and proposing advanced technologies. Responsibilities + Design complex kinematic solutions in a conceptual design environment. + Guide engineers in structural design and architecture definition. + Support design processes through trade studies, concept development, and interface development. + Utilize CATIA software for part design, assembly design, surface-wireframe, and composites workbench. + Design metallics primary and secondary structures and form high-temperature materials. + Implement GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing) in design processes. Essential Skills + Extensive experience in space vehicle design. + Proficiency in CATIA for part design, assembly design, and composites workbench. + Experience in designing metallics primary and secondary structures. + Strong knowledge of GD&T and high-temperature material forming. + Ability to work in an Integrated Product Team (IPT) environment. Additional Skills & Qualifications + Experience in wing, fuselage, vertical tail, and air vehicle door design. + Proficiency in stringer, frames, and clips design. + Experience with Global Finite Element Models (GFEM) and Detail Finite Element Models (DFEM). + Experience in creating simple working FEMs for conceptual design work. + Knowledge of various material forms and processes for trade studies. + Experience in executing trade studies to evaluate design solutions against weight, cost, and schedule constraints. Work Environment The role requires onsite work at a defense facility with working hours from Monday to Friday, 8 AM to 5 PM. The position offers a long-term contract of a minimum of 18 months, providing opportunities to support various programs and statements of work onsite. Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of Wichita, KS. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $50.00 - $95.00/hr.
