At Akron General, you will work and learn from some of the best caregivers, provide and receive multitudes of support andappreciation,and createsteppingstonestoward a rewarding career with one of the world's most respected healthcare organizations.When we do everything in service of our patients and caregivers, no detail gets ignored, andAkron General understands that part of staying well is keeping up with nutritional needs.As aFood Service Aide, you willbe responsible forproper food handling, portioning, serving,preparingand cooking food.This is a great hands-on experience that will allow youtoprovideforand care forour patients in a way other than nursing.A caregiver in this position worksevenings from3:30PM- 7:30PM.A caregiver who excels in this role will:Accurately dish up,portionout, assemble, weigh, measure and serve fooditemsaccording to the production sheet, menu, setupdiagramsor other communications.Prepare quality food itemsin accordance withproduction sheets,recipesand menus.Operatekitchen equipment necessary to perform tasks, such as food processing and preparation equipment.Prepare food on the grill, inovensor usinginduction stoves.Prepare cold food items and prepare vegetables.Assistthe cook.Assemble, transport, pickupand disassemblepatient trays.Assistin preparing, serving, settingupand cleaning up special dinners and luncheons for meetings.Follow proper sanitation procedures andmaintainand leave a clean,sanitizedand organized work area.Practice proper food handling techniques and the “clean as you go” policy.Load and unload the dish machine.Report any failures or malfunctioning equipment or utilities to a supervisorimmediately.Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:HighSchoolDiplomaor GEDExperience in food service or the ability to performfood service general dutiesPhysical Requirements:Ability to work in hot kitchen around hot equipment and a variety of other potential hazards ranging from spills on floors to sharp cutting equipment (knives, slicer). Ability to withstand changes in work environment temperatures (hot kitchen to cooler).An insensitivity to allergic reactions to required sanitation chemicals, gloves, food and supplies used and essential to the job.Ability to work in wet environment with hands frequently exposed to water.Must have physical qualifications to walk, stand for extended periods of time, as well as entering walk-in coolers and freezers to obtain needed products, with assistance when necessary.Ability to lift 30 lbs.Personal Protective Equipment:Follows Standard Precautions using personal protective equipment as required.Pay RangeSalaries [which may be] shown on independent job search websites reflect various market averages and do not represent information obtained directly from The Cleveland Clinic.
