Build the Aircraft That Carry the Mission Aircraft Structures Mechanic (C-17 Program) San Antonio, TX Full Time Consultant (9 Months) $41.00/hr PDS Tech Commercial is partnering with an aerospace industry leader to support the C-17 program in San Antonio, Texas. We are seeking a skilled Aircraft Structures Mechanic who takes pride in precision, safety, and craftsmanship. In this role, your hands-on expertise directly supports mission-ready aircraft that serve critical global operations. The Role & Its Impact As an Aircraft Structures Mechanic, you will perform complex structural repairs and modifications on C-17 aircraft, ensuring airworthiness, safety, and long-term durability. Your work plays a vital role in maintaining fleet readiness and supporting aerospace missions that matter. What Youu2019ll Do Day to Day In this role, you will: + Perform close-tolerance drilling, reaming, removal, and installation on critical and fracture-critical structures + Locate blind holes for installation of new structural components on existing aircraft structures + Conduct sealing, painting, shimming, and preservation of structures per standard repair processes + Read and interpret engineering drawings, technical orders, process specifications, and retrofit requirements + Perform structural modification and repair using tooling assemblies and fixtures at the depot level + Troubleshoot and repair aircraft structural and mechanical components + Repair and modify sheet metal structures, including wings, fuselage sections, stringers, and support structures + Use aircraft-specific tools such as torque wrenches, micrometers, dial indicators, cable tensiometers, and sheet metal equipment + Access aircraft data systems to initiate parts requests and discrepancy documentation + Maintain required certifications, licenses, and permits + Ensure compliance with Hazardous Energy and Lock Out/Tag safety procedures + Support avionics, electronics, and general mechanics to meet cost and schedule targets + Comply with site tool control and FOD prevention procedures + Successfully complete training and pass required assessments Required Qualifications + Minimum 1 year of experience working with non-porous metals such as aluminum, titanium, and stainless steel + Minimum 1 year of experience reading schematics, specifications, assembly drawings, and standard operating procedures + Minimum 1 year of experience using aircraft structures hand tools (drills, countersink cages, rivet guns, hole finders, etc.) + Ability to work variable shifts, including overtime, weekends, and holidays as required by mission needs + Ability to meet physical requirements including ladder climbing, confined space work, lifting up to 35 lbs, and extended standing This position requires use of information or access to facilities subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) and/or Export Administration Regulations (EAR). These regulations may limit access of controlled technologies: 1) to U.S. Persons, including U.S. Citizens, lawful permanent residents, and other narrow categories including refugees and asylees, or 2) to certain foreign nationals that have received an export license.
