We are looking for an enthusiastic Director of Trauma Program to help us reach our goals. Unlock your potential Job Summary and Qualifications In collaboration with the Trauma Center Medical Director provides for the overall coordination of the Trauma Center Strategic Planning, Regulatory Compliance, Performance Improvement, and Registry aspects of the Trauma Center at MHS. This includes strategic planning, marketing, coordinating, evaluating, and promoting the Trauma Center. There shall be evidence of strong communication and collaboration leadership, medical staff and nursing staff as well as the Texas Department of State Health Services, the Southwest Texas Regional Advisory Council and the American College of Surgeons (ACS) Committee on Trauma (COT). The Director - Trauma Services will oversee the Trauma Center and report to Division AVP Trauma. The Trauma director will work collaboratively with the Trauma Medical Director and is responsible for assuring all State and Federal regulatory requirements are met, as well as compliance with American College of Surgeons verification requirements. Demonstrates understanding of involvement of all internal and external stakeholders, and assures cost effective patient care processes are met. Collaborates with other health team members by serving in a consultative capacity for trauma services to ensure quality patient care is achieved. Essential Job Functions: Leadership Interface and Strategic Initiatives Local, State and National + Manages the operational, personnel and financial aspects of the Level II Trauma Center. + Serves as liaison to the Senior Hospital and Medical Staff Leadership to communicate ongoing Trauma Center initiatives. + Represent the Level II Trauma Center on various hospital and community committees to enhance and foster optimal trauma care management. 4. Participates in the development and implementation of the Level II Trauma Center Strategic Plan. + Communicates with the Texas Department of Health in all trauma regulatory matters. + Liaison with state and local public officials in all trauma related issues. + Leads marketing/public relations initiatives for MHS image campaign. + Participates in development of trauma care systems at the local, regional and state level as the lead Trauma Agency. + Represents the Level II Trauma Center on a state and national level by presenting at nationally recognized trauma related conferences and active membership/leadership in nationally recognized trauma professional organizations. ACS Verification and Regulatory Compliance + Maintains active involvement with the Texas Department of Health and the American College of Surgeons Committee on Trauma related to verification criteria and regulatory compliance. + Complete the ACS pre-survey questionnaire with pertinent hospital and medical staff contribution. + Co-chairs the Trauma Continuous Survey Readiness Committee with the Trauma Program Medical Director which maintains continuous survey readiness and prepares for the ACS verification site visit. Performance Improvement + Reports ongoing performance improvement initiatives to senior hospital and medical staff leadership. + Identifies possible ACS criterion deficiencies and communicates obstacles to corrective action to senior leadership. + Co-Chairs the Trauma Systems Committee with the Trauma Program Medical Director. + Reports ACS criterion deficiency resolutions and PI dashboards on a quarterly basis. What qualifications you will need: + Graduate of an accredited school of nursing with a Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing + 3+ years of experience in Trauma Program Management + 3+ years of experience in Trauma Registry + 3+ years of experience in Management + Masteru2019s Degree in Nursing preferred + Trauma, Informatics, and public health experience Minimum License, Certificates, or Registrations Required: + Current license to practice professional nursing in the State of Texas, + Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC) or Advanced Trauma Care for Nurses (ATCN), Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course (ENPC) or Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), and current BLS and ACLS + TNCC Instructor preferred Methodist Healthcare is recognized as the most respected and preferred healthcare provider in the South Texas region.
