Description Under the leadership of the Senior Operations Manager. The Safety Coordinator plans and coordinates the operations of an organization. The Safety Coordinator is responsible for ensuring and improving the performance, productivity, efficiency and profitability of departmental and organizational operations through the provision of effective methods and strategies. The Safety Coordinator must have the skills, knowledge and experience to coordinate all aspects of organizational lines of organization lines of business. Must have a Valid Drivers License and obtain/maintain security clearance. Schedule: Monday-Friday 8:00 am to 5:00 pm Must be able to work a flexible schedule to include weekends, evenings and holidays as needed. Pay Rate Based on Experience We offer Benefits and Paid Time Off PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSITBILITES + Knowledge of Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) regulations related to hazardous materials, waste handling, and environmental safety compliance. + Experience with hazardous materials identification, handling, storage, and reporting requirements in compliance with federal, state, and local regulations. + Responsible for providing a safe and positive teamwork environment in support of the organizationu2019s objectives, mission and core values to provide employment opportunities for individuals with significant disabilities. + Manages the day-to-day Safety Program effectively and efficiently and ensures the work is performed in accordance with the organizations established guidelines. + Implements a safety and health program that complies with EM 385-1-1 and applicable OSHA, DOD, Armed Forces Branch/Branches, Federal, state, and local safety, environmental and health requirements. + Implements a written site-specific Accident Prevention Plan (APP) in accordance with Appendix A, EM 385-1-1. + Develops organizational strategies by identifying and researching root cause analysis and provides contributing information and recommendations that are in line with organizational objectives. + Fully implements and manages all phases and provisions of the TRDI Safety Control and Safety System and related documents; is the liaison with parties outside the organization on all matters relating to Health and Safety. + Provides updates on the performance, and needed improvements, of the Safety System to Senior Management. + Audits the suitability and effectiveness of the companyu2019s Safety System and reviews and approves all Safety System documents; identifies and provides annual training needs for all personnel across the organization. + Writes/updates/enforces Policies and Standard Operating Procedures when work steps are necessary for establishing, implementing, and maintaining the company Safety System. + Manages the organizationu2019s workeru2019s compensation program; report and review all job-related injuries. + Provides project managers with the proper documentation to execute an investigation on all job-related incidents. + When a trend of job-related injuries occurs, provide project managers with proper training tools to prevent or minimize incidents. Assist project managers on making accommodations for employees that return to work with working restrictions. + Implements OPSEC Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) Plan; manages the Fleet Vehicle Safety Program. + Other duties as assigned. QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS u2022 OSHA 500- Trainer Course in Occupational Safety and Health Standards for the Construction Industry u2022OSHA 510- Occupational Safety and Health Standards for the Construction Industry u2022OSHA 200- Hazard Recognition in Construction u2022Strong Interpersonal Skills u2022 Ability to communicate orally and in writing in a clear and concise manner u2022 Ability to effectively delegate and develop team members u2022 Ability to maintain confidentiality of information u2022 Ability to manage time effectively and handle both internal and external conflicts u2022 Ability to make decisions and solve problems while working under pressure u2022 Detail oriented and strong organizational skills u2022 Strong Business Acumen u2022 Knowledge of local, state and federal employment laws and procedures u2022 Knowledge of wage and hour laws u2022 Advanced Knowledge of various Risk/Safety systems u2022 Extensive working knowledge of Microsoft Office Package (i.e. Excel, PowerPoint, Word, etc.) u2022 OSHA 30 hour General Industry course or ability to acquire certification within 30 days of employment. u2022 OSHA 30 hour Construction course or ability to acquire certification within 30 days of employment. ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIPS This position manages Safety Coordinator function and directly reports to Operations/Leadership. EDUCATION, SKILLS, AND EXPERIENCE u2022 Bacheloru2019s degree in business, related field Preferred u20223-5 years relevant work experience in managing a Safety and Health programs.u2022 Familiarity with Labor Unions and regulatory laws u2022 Strong ability to organize effectively, delegate responsibility, solve problems quickly and communicate clearly u2022 Experience with leading high performing teams u2022 Ambitious and target focused with a drive to succeed u2022 Ability to manage time effectively and handle both internal and external conflicts u2022 Familiarity with Affirmative Action Plans and AbilityOne Program u2022 Experience in working with Community Agencies and/or individuals with disabilities preferred PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS While performing the duties of this job individuals will sit for long periods of time working in front of a computer; lift or move objects weighing up to 20 pounds. WORK ENVIRONMENT This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as laptop computers, photocopiers, phones, and smartphones. POSITION CLASSIFICATION AND EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK This is an Exempt full-time position; Work schedule varies., but a work week of at least 40 hours is expected. Travel: This position requires 60% travel according to operational needs; travel is often outside of the local area and overnight.
