To continue our standard of excellence, Piedmont is seeking a motivated, reliable student to join us as a Safety Intern. This internship will assist in achieving the corporate mission of providing a safe environment for employees and customers. Interns will have the opportunity to learn about and be exposed to each function of an airline safety department. After successfully completing the internship, the intern will have an overall knowledge needed to understand all elements of safety. The Middletown intern position is responsible for assisting the Regulatory Compliance team with ensuring safety and compliance throughout the organization. This position reports to the Senior Manager of Safety. Essential Duties: u00b7 Investigate current hot button topics for inclusion into company policies and processes u00b7 Assist auditors with conducting audits of the company u00b7 Contribute to the Corporate Emergency Response Plan (CERP) by helping with review of event summaries and preparation for drills u00b7 Research into known or suspected safety concerns u00b7 Assist in creating presentations, reviewing manuals, and conducting safety audits u00b7 Assist Safety team with supporting the software used for audits u00b7 Daily data analysis, data entry, and project development u00b7 Additional duties may involve interaction with other departments outside of Safety as well as some travel Job Qualifications and Competencies: u00b7 Minimum of one year of progress towards a degree with a major or minor in safety or aviation/aeronautical science u00b7 Excellent communication and Microsoft Office Suite skills required u00b7 Organized, detail oriented, self-motivated, handles multiple tasks, problem solving skills, and the ability to set and meet deadlines u00b7 General knowledge of Code of Federal Regulations (CFRs), Federal Aviation Regulations (FARs), Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) Regulations, and procedures regarding airline safety Preferred Qualifications: u00b7 Junior or Senior student u00b7 Prior work experience, especially in a fast-paced office environment u00b7 Knowledge of Tableau Work Environment: u00b7 Standard office environment, use of computers and other office equipment u00b7 Ability to work a flexible schedule if needed u00b7 Some travel required Physical Requirements: u00b7 Occasional lifting up to 25 pounds The above statements provide a brief description of the general nature of work performed and not intended to be a complete list of responsibilities, duties and skills required for this position.
