Join our team of problem solvers as we add new chapters to the history of spaceflightThis role is part of TeraWave, a satellite communications network designed to deliver symmetrical data speeds of up to 6 Tbps anywhere on Earth. This network will service tens of thousands of enterprise, data center, and government users who require reliable connectivity for critical operations.Special Mentions:This position is part of Blue Origin's TeraWave business unit, a newly announced satellite communications network designed to deliver symmetrical data speeds of up to 6 Tbps anywhere on Earth. TeraWave consists of 5,408 optically interconnected satellites in low Earth orbit (LEO) and medium Earth orbit (MEO), providing enterprise-grade connectivity for critical operations.Responsibilities include but are not limited to:Design, develop, and test GNC hardware components and systems for the TeraWave satellite constellationPerform trade studies for sizing, specification, and selection of spacecraft GNC hardware including reaction wheels, torque rods, star trackers, and other attitude determination and control componentsDevelop technical specifications, interface control documents, and system architecture designs for GNC subsystemsAnalyze GNC hardware performance requirements and validate designs through simulation and testingCollaborate with multidisciplinary teams including software engineers, avionics specialists, and mission planners to ensure integrated system performanceConduct system performance assessments, stability analysis, and develop risk mitigation strategiesProvide hands-on support for integration and testing of flight hardwareTroubleshoot and resolve hardware non-conformances and test failuresSupport supplier technical management and evaluation of GNC hardware componentsContribute to design reviews and documentation throughout the development lifecycleDevelop and maintain GNC hardware test procedures and verification plansMinimum Qualifications:Bachelor's degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related technical field3+ years of experience in spacecraft/satellite GNC hardware development, integration, or testingExperience with spacecraft attitude determination and control systems (ADCS)Knowledge of GNC sensors and actuators such as star trackers, IMUs, reaction wheels, and magnetorquersFamiliarity with hardware qualification and acceptance testing proceduresExperience with hardware-in-the-loop testing and simulationStrong analytical and problem-solving skillsExcellent written and verbal communication abilitiesPreferred Qualifications:Master's degree in Aerospace Engineering or related fieldExperience with LEO or MEO satellite constellationsKnowledge of optical communications systems and pointing requirementsExperience with Q/V-band RF communications systemsFamiliarity with radiation effects on spacecraft hardwareExperience with MATLAB/Simulink for GNC modeling and simulationKnowledge of spacecraft dynamics and orbital mechanicsExperience with hardware-software integration for GNC systemsPrevious work on satellite communications systems or networksExperience with fault detection, isolation, and recovery (FDIR) systemsCompensation Range for:CA applicants is $107,136.00 - $149,990.40CO applicants is $98,208.00 - $137,491.20WA applicants is $107,136.00 - $149,990.40Other site ranges may differCulture StatementDon't meet
