Summer Camp Educator

Looking for a summer position where you can help kids have fun with science and learn new hands-on activities to do in your own classroom? McWanes Summer Camp Educators lead activities and experiments with children in PreK through 7^th^ grade in our top-rated Summer Camps. Youll work with McWane Education staff and teachers from across the greater Birmingham area to create dynamic and meaningful science programming and experiences.Summer Camp Educators are responsible for presenting and demonstrating inquiry-based science programs to campers in June and July. Duties include taking the lead role in the instruction of summer camps for ages PreK through 7^th^grade by developing and providing appropriate grade level programming, classroom management, and instruction. Other responsibilities will include assisting with before/after care, lunch supervision, and exhibit interpretation on the museum floors.Training will begin on Tuesday, May 26, 2026 and run through Friday, May 29, 2026 with a schedule of 9AM until 3:30PM.Shifts will begin Monday, June 1, 2026 and end Friday, July 31, 2026. Morning (8AM until 1:30PM)OR afternoon (12:00PM until 5:30PM) shifts will be available.Minimum Qualifications: Applicant must possess a Bachelors degree in science, education, or related field; have excellent communication and customer service skills; have the ability to work well with a variety of people in a fast-paced environment; be comfortable in leading group presentations; and possess the ability to effectively interpret and communicate science concepts.Physical qualifications include, but are not limited to, sitting and/or standing for extended periods of time; lifting/pulling/pushing objects up to 20 lbs.; and grasping objects utilizing the fingers.Position requires hearing and visual acuity.Position may be exposed to chemicals/fumes.Benefits include FREE entry to McWane Science Center Adventure Halls; discounts in our IMAX Theater, gift shop and food service area; and on-site parking.We look forward to hearing from you
