JOB REQUIREMENTS: Description: This position is an on-call as needed,part-time position to fill in for staff vacancies. Under the directsupervision of the Director of Facilities, this substitute performsgeneral cleaning and maintenance in school buildings and grounds;maintains equipment in functional condition; and provides cleaning andcustodial assistance to students, teachers, visitors and others asnecessary. This position may also drive the District delivery vehicle totransport facilities and school nutrition supplies or mail. Performsrelated duties and general maintenance work as required to fill for theperson absent. Essential Functions: Checks and secures building atbeginning and end of shift for the purpose of insuring the safety andcleanliness of the building. Cleans rooms, hallways, cafeterias,restrooms, offices, stairways, and other areas of building according toschool district standards. Sweeps, mops, buffs, strips, and waxesfloors. Cleans rugs, carpets, upholstered furniture, and blinds. Washeswalls, ceilings, woodwork, windows, doors, and sills. Removes graffiti,cleans glass areas. Replaces light bulbs. Sets up and breaks downchairs, tables and equipment in meeting rooms, and functional rooms.Clears snow from entrances and walks, and spreads sand and ice meltingchemicals. Performs grounds-keeping duties, clears debris and maintainsgrounds. Receives deliveries and assists in unloading trucks and storingsupplies. Delivers supplies and materials to classrooms, bathrooms andother areas of the building. Empties wastebaskets; picks up and removestrash and assists in recycling program. Performs general cleaning, andrepair work to the best of their ability, throughout the vacancy Assistsparents and other visitors to school buildings with special events andprograms. Performs other related tasks as assigned by supervisor. Note:The above description is illustrative of tasks and responsibilities. Itis not meant to be all inclusive of every task or responsibility.Equipment Uses hand tools of trade and related power equipment,including brooms, mops, floor cleaning and waxing machines, vacuumcleaners, snow blowers, shovels, power mower and hand tools. SafetyRequirements Follows all applicable safety rules, procedures andregulations governing the proper use of tools and power equipment usedin the performance of duties. Wears appropriate safety gear, includingmasks. Must comply with school district's chemical hygiene program andfollow MSDS sheets. OTHER EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS: HighSchool Diploma or completion of sufficient education to successfullyperform the duties of the position. Previous experience in building andcleaning maintenance desirable. WI Motor Vehicle Operator's license.Must be able to lift, push, pull 50 lbs repetitively. Ability to followoral or written work orders from supervisor, and to coordinate work withprincipal and others. Ability to read, write and speak English fluently.Ability to describe orally or in writing cleaning, maintenance or repairproblems as needed. Ability to establish and maintain cooperativeworking relationships with students, staff and others contacted in thecourse of work. Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide all unitsof measure. Ability to work in poor weather conditions, including heat,cold, rain, or snow. Ability to work above ground from ladders andautomatic lifts. Ability to perform work according to standardprocedures and schedule set forth by supervisor(s).
