Job Summary The Sterile Processing andDecontamination (SPD) Technician is responsible for maintaining highstandards for decontamination assembly, inspecting, wrapping, andsterilization of surgical instruments and medical equipment for SurgicalServices and Ancillary departments. This includes working in conjunctionwith the OR staff to provide timely sterile products, trays and casecarts where applicable. The SPD Technician maintains consistency andcontinuous workflow between the Operating Room and Sterile Processingwhile practicing excellent customer service. What you will do Performsdecontamination of soiled instruments, sterilization containers andequipment according to established protocols. Operates sterilizationequipment and inspects instruments, equipment, and containers to ensurecleanliness and proper functioning. Maintain quality control bymonitoring, reading, documenting, and interpreting, all parameters forall types of sterilizers to insure proper function. Works closely withOperating Room staff to identify supply and equipment needs for thescheduled procedures Corrects instrument sets according to currentstandards and established count sheets and/or instrument trackingsystems. Education Qualifications High School Diploma and/or GED HighSchool diploma Required Experience Qualifications 1-3 years Instrumentprocessing or sterile processing experience, or previous work experiencein the medical field (i.e. CNA, MA, etc.) Preferred Skills and AbilitiesExcellent interpersonal skills and behaviors Ability to formwork/patient relationships with patients and peers Ability to prioritizework and meet changing demands Fosters teamwork through effectivewritten and verbal communication Works in a constant state of alertnessand safe manner Licenses and Certifications CPR/Basic Life Support forHealthcare Providers certification issued by American Heart AssociationUpon Hire Required Physical Demands Sit - Occasionally Stand -Frequently Walk - Occasionally Drive - Rarely Climb (Stairs/Ladders) -Rarely Bend (Neck) - Frequently Bend (Waist) -...
