Unlock your potential!Job Summary and QualificationsAs an Ultrasound Technologist, you are responsible for performing ultrasonic imaging and related procedures in all areas of ultrasound. You will demonstrate anatomy for interpretation and/or intervention by, or at the request of a licensed practitioner. You will exercise professional judgment in performance of services and maintain a demeanor complementary to medical ethics. You will apply appropriate patient care and recognize patient conditions essential for successful completion of procedure. You will apply knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span to identify patient and family requirements relative to age-specific needsYou will consistently produce scans of optimal diagnostic quality on patients ranging from Neonatal to GeriatricYou will demonstrate knowledge of human anatomy and physiology.You will follow established scanning and filming protocolsYou will operate the Ultrasound units efficiently and effectivelyYou will maintain thorough knowledge of the operating parameters of the scannerYou will operate the complex measurement and Doppler programsYou will document information seen during examYou will complete quality scans in a timely manner, effectively organize and prioritize workflow to meet STAT and urgent demandsYou will demonstrate proficiency in scanning trauma, acute & challenging patients; possess skill to modify positioning and scanning factors when standard cannot be performedYou will relay to Radiologist any relevant patient informationYou will assist physicians performing invasive examsYou will perform procedures in ORYou will coordinate procedures with other departmentsYou will complete required documentation on forms, logs and on the computer.You will obtain all pertinent patient history, and relays it to the Radiologist to assist in diagnosis or treatmentYou will review written orders, assess patient identification and ensure indicators are appropriate prior to procedureShift: Thursday-Sunday, 1830-0500What qualifications you will need:One year experience as a diagnostic medical sonographerOne year experience as a Radiologic Technologist - preferredA single two-year allied health education program that is patient-care related OR Graduate of a program accredited by an agency recognized by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA), United States Department of Education (USDOE) or Canadian Medical Association (CMA), that specifically conducts programmatic accreditation for diagnostic medical sonography/diagnostic cardiac sonography/vascular technologyAssociates degree or higher in related technological field - preferredCredentials with the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS)BLS CertificationRegistered Technologist with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT), post- primary certification in Sonography - preferredCertified Medical Radiologic Technologist with the Texas Medical Board - preferredSt. David’s North Austin Medical Center, part of St. David’s HealthCare, is a full-service medical center providing comprehensive medical care at two locations - St. David’s North Austin Medical Center andSt. David’s Surgical Hospital. The center includes a95+ bed Level III Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU)with 30+ private rooms, 10+ rooms for very small babies, and 10+ beds for babies needing neurological care. It also has35+ labor, delivery, and recovery rooms, including Central Texas’ firstlow-intervention birthing suiteswith tubs. There are95+ postpartum beds,20+ antepartum beds, andCesarean section surgical suites. The facility offers24/7 neonatology coverage,OB/GYN hospitalists,maternal-fetal medicine specialists,lactation consultants, and amidwifery program. It is part of theNational Institute of Child Health and Human Development Maternal-Fetal Medicine Units NetworkandTexasAIM, and it also provides ahigh-risk pregnancy navigation and support program. St. David's Surgical Hospital is part ofSt. David’s North Austin Medical Center and is the firstLevel 4 Epilepsy Centerin Central Texas for both adults and children. It has its own24-hour emergency department, amedical-surgical inpatient unit, and apediatric intensive care unit (PICU)for patients ages 17 and under. The hospital is staffed withpediatric emergency physicians,pediatric hospitalists,intensivists, and other specialists who are specially trained to care for children. It also includescertified child-life specialistswho help kids feel more comfortable during their hospital stay. St. David’s Children’s Hospital offers manypediatric services, such aspediatric surgery,pediatric radiology(including imaging and interventional procedures), andpediatric anesthesiafor surgical support.
