The Division of Hematology and Oncology, Section of Palliative Care at Oregon Health & Science University (OHSU) is seeking a board-certified or board-eligible Hospice and Palliative Medicine physician to join its interdisciplinary team. This hybrid role includes approximately equal inpatient and outpatient clinical responsibilities, providing comprehensive palliative care to patients with serious illness across the full continuum of care.OHSU is Oregon’s only academic health center, combining cutting-edge clinical care, pioneering research, and education. With a renewed focus on transforming cancer care, you’ll join an environment where innovation flourishes, collaboration is central, and your work truly matters.Live and work in Portland, a vibrant city with outstanding food, arts, and culture, and easy access to world-class hiking, skiing, and coastline adventures.When you apply, please upload a Resume/CV and Letter of Interest.Clinical ResponsibilitiesInpatient Care (approximately 50%)Provide inpatient palliative care consultation for patients with serious and life-limiting illness across medical and surgical servicesPartner closely with primary teams, specialists, nursing, social work, chaplaincy, pharmacy, and other disciplines to deliver comprehensive, patient-centered careSupport complex symptom management, serious illness communication, and transitions of careProvide in-person weekday coverage, with participation in a shared after-hours pager call rotation by phone onlyParticipate in relevant institutional committees and clinical review meetings to provide palliative care representationOutpatient Care (approximately 50%)Provide longitudinal outpatient palliative care for patients and families navigating serious oncologic illness at the Knight Cancer Institute Collaborate with specialty clinics and referring providers to support symptom management, goals of care, and continuity across care settingsContribute to program development and optimization of outpatient palliative care modelsEducation and Academic MissionParticipate in the education and mentorship of medical students, residents, fellows, and other learners in palliative care principles and practiceEngage in bedside teaching, didactic sessions, and interdisciplinary learning activitiesContribute to the academic mission of OHSU through clinical education, quality improvement, scholarship, or program development, consistent with the candidate’s interests and academic trackMD/DOU.S. Board certified/eligible in Hospice and Palliative MedicineLicensed to practice medicine in Oregon1-2 years of experience working as part of an interdisciplinary team preferredDemonstrated commitment to compassionate, patient-centered carePassion for educating the next generation of cliniciansStrong collaborative spirit and ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary teamsGenuine enthusiasm for educating the next generation of cliniciansCommitment to clinical excellence and staying current with evolving palliative care evidence and best practicesAs an OHSU faculty member, you will access robust and competitive benefits for well-being and peace of mind.
