Sr. Accountant

Description We are looking for an experienced Senior Cost Accountant to join our client's team. This role is integral to ensuring accurate financial reporting and compliance, supporting inventory costing, and driving process improvements across multiple entities. The ideal candidate will bring strong analytical skills and a collaborative approach to working with various departments. Responsibilities: u2022 Complete month-end closing activities, including preparing journal entries, reconciling balance sheets, and performing internal controls across multiple entities. u2022 Review and oversee journal entries submitted by plant finance teams for accuracy before entering them into the company system. u2022 Manage inventory costing processes, including handling ad hoc requests from manufacturing plants and supporting new product development projects. u2022 Assist with the annual calculation and validation of inventory standard costs. u2022 Analyze inventory costs to identify discrepancies, investigate root causes, and support audits related to materials, labor, overhead, and bill of materials. u2022 Collaborate with accounting and non-accounting teams to improve processes and enhance the accuracy of financial reporting. u2022 Communicate findings and insights effectively to colleagues and leadership through both verbal and written channels. u2022 Provide support for special projects and ad-hoc financial requests. u2022 Take on additional responsibilities as needed Requirements u2022 Bacheloru2019s degree in accounting or equivalent relevant experience is strongly preferred. u2022 CPA or CMA certification or active candidacy is desirable. u2022 Previous experience in accounting or related training is preferred. u2022 Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, is required. u2022 Familiarity with Power BI is preferred. u2022 Strong knowledge of cost accounting principles, including standard costs and bill of materials. u2022 Proven ability to manage general ledger activities, journal entries, and account reconciliations. u2022 Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills to review and audit financial data effectively.
