Department: Emergency Department Location: Henry Ford West Bloomfield, 6777 W Maple Rd, West Bloomfield Township, MI 48322 As an Emergency Room Technical Assistant , youu2019ll work side-by-side with nurses and providers to deliver timely, compassionate care during critical moments. Under direct supervision, you'll assist with procedures, perform vital tasks, and help ensure smooth operations in one of the hospitalu2019s most dynamic environments. ABOUT OUR UNIT: Henry Ford West Bloomfieldu2019s Emergency Departmentis a Level III Trauma Center, certified stroke center, and state-certified heart attack treatment center. Our team includes board-certified physicians, nurses, and ER techs trained to deliver expert, compassionate careu2014whether for minor injuries or life-threatening emergencies. We use advanced technology and rapid-response protocols to treat strokes, heart attacks, trauma, and more, ensuring the highest level of care when seconds count. WHAT YOUu2019LL DO: Your day-to-day impact includes: u00b7 Assist with patient assessments, exams, and treatments u00b7 Perform clinical tasks such as: o Drawing blood & collecting specimens o Performing EKGs o Applying splints or immobilizers o Taking vital signs (adult and pediatric) o Inserting NG tubes, urethral catheters o Starting and discontinuing IVs (as applicable) u00b7 Prepare and assist with procedures including suturing, casting, pelvic exams, lumbar punctures, and more u00b7 Recognize abnormal vitals or dysrhythmias and alert the RN/Provider immediately u00b7 Provide patient and family support with professionalism and empathy u00b7 Maintain equipment and supplies; clean and prepare rooms between patients u00b7 Ensure compliance with safety, infection control, and hospital standards EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: + High School Diploma or GED required + BLS Certification required + Previous experience in an Emergency Department or acute care setting is a strong plus CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSURES REQUIRED: Must meet one of the following criteria: + Basic EMT (B-EMT) certification + Graduate of a formal Medical Assistant program + Completion of a formal nursing education program + Completion of a formal medical doctor education program OR + One (1) year of applicable Emergency Room Technical experience (Must complete one of the above certifications/programs within 12 months of hire) Additional Requirements: + EMT license preferred + Successful completion of a 180-day orientation period is required PHYSICAL DEMANDS/WORKING CONDITIONS: Work will be performed in a health care setting with possible exposure to communicable diseases. Frequent walking, bending, and lifting are required to perform job duties.
