Job Description The Role As a Senior Software Engineer u2013 Automation Platforms at GM, you will design, build, and own scalable software frameworks and developer tooling that support software development, integration, and validation across GMu2019s vehicle systems. This role focuses on engineering robust platforms, libraries, and pipelines that are used by teams globally to accelerate delivery and improve software quality at scale. You will work closely with engineering teams across multiple business units to understand their needs and translate them into production-grade software solutions. This position offers significant opportunities for technical ownership, architectural influence, and mentorship, while contributing to the evolution of GMu2019s software ecosystem. What Youu2019ll Do + Design and develop scalable Python-based frameworks and libraries that power a global automation and developer productivity ecosystem + Own software features and initiatives end-to-end, from requirements and design through implementation and long-term support + Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines and supporting infrastructure to enable reliable, repeatable software delivery + Contribute to system and framework architecture, ensuring solutions are extensible, maintainable, and performant + Participate in code reviews, setting a high bar for engineering quality, design, and best practices + Act as a technical mentor, supporting the growth and development of other engineers on the team + Collaborate in an Agile/Scrum environment, participating in backlog refinement, sprint planning, and retrospectives + Stay current with emerging technologies and industry trends related to software engineering, automation platforms, and developer tooling Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications) + 5+ years of experience developing software in multiple programming languages such as Python, Java, C++, C#, Groovy, Scala, etc. + Bachelor of Science in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field + Hands-on experience building automation-related software solutions, including familiarity with open-source and commercial automation tools + Strong oral and written communication skills, with the ability to work independently and collaboratively across teams What Will Give You a Competitive Edge (Preferred Qualifications) + Understanding of Vehicle Electrical Architecture and vehicle subsystems/features + Advanced degree in engineering or management/leadership + Experience building or extending automation frameworks such as Robot and developing reusable enablers within them + 3+ years of experience in Automotive Software Development or Test, including exposure to software or test architecture + Prior experience working on a software development team practicing Agile/Scrum _Compensation_ : The compensation information is a good faith estimate only. It is based on what a successful applicant might be paid in accordance with applicable state laws. The compensation may not be representative for positions located outside of New York, Colorado, California, or Washington. + The salary range for this role is $134,000 to $241,900.
