Individual annual salaries/hourly rates will be set within the job's compensation range, and will be determined by considering factors including, but not limited to, market data, education, experience, qualifications, expertise of the individual, and internal equity considerations._ Responsibilities: Performs responsibilities of the American College of Surgeons (ACS) National Surgical Quality Improvement Program (NSQIP) surgical clinical database including selection, abstraction, and follow-up of accurate and reliable data. Responsible for analysis, summary and distribution of both raw and risk adjusted data; organize and participate in new and ongoing quality assurance/performance improvement projects. Serve as Quality Assurance Liaison (QAL) for the assigned Department of Surgery Division. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS + NSQIP Surgical Clinical Reviewer (SCR): accurately complete standard program tasks including selection, data collection, time management, data quality checks, and follow up in support of participation in the ACS Adult NSQIP Database. Comprehensive chart review through expert navigation of electronic medical record. + NSQIP Surgical Clinical Reviewer (SCR): accurately compile additional data (target procedure or outside databases) in support of surgical quality improvement programs. Collected definited variables through comprehensive chart review. + Analyze, summarize and distribute both raw and risk adjusted data by preparing reports utilizing the NSQIP database as requested. Analyze patient outcomes to identify patterns and trends in care delivery in order to facilitate quality initiatives for surgical patients. Utilize evidence-based practice and quality principles to guide project management and develop quality assurance/performance improvement projects. + Serves as Division quality assurance liaison (QAL): support assigned division quality program with data summaries, quality audits, quality assurance reviews, annual QA/PI plan revisions and other tasks as identified. Attend and facilitate regular QA meetings. + Develops and maintains status as NSQIP expert by attending conference calls as well as attending national quality and safety meeting. Proactively engage in educational opportunities. + Other duties as assigned MINIMUM EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE + Current valid NYS Registered Nurse license required + Bachelor's/Masteru2019s degree preferred. + Minimum three (3) years RN experience, with surgical nursing experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience required KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES + Ability to interact with all members of the surgical team and administrative staff in a professional and courteous manner preferred. + Detail oriented with strong organizational and prioritization skills and ability to work independently under general guidance. + Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, Outlook), software/web applications, and electronic medical record. + Statistical knowledge preferred + Clinical chart review and abstraction experience preferred. + Quality Assurance and Process Improvement (QA/PI) experience preferred LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS + Optional: Certified Professional in Healthcare Quality (CPHQ) The University of Rochester is committed to fostering, cultivating, and preserving an inclusive and welcoming culture to advance the Universityu2019s Mission to Learn, Discover, Heal, Create u2013 and Make the World Ever Better.
