Job Details Job ID: 5529265 Job Description THIS IS A SUMMER POSITION. EMPLOYMENT IS SEASONAL AND TEMPORARY Note: Interested applicants should also view the ESY - Specialized Day School Program Description Extended School Year (ESY) offers specialized services to students with disabilities. The decision to provide ESY is made by the IEP Team, who assesses the necessity to minimize substantial regression and reduce substantial recoupment. The IEP Team evaluates each studentu2019s level of needs and recommends specific IEP services during ESY based on individual student requirements. Instructional hours for students are 5 hours per day, 5 days per week, for 5 weeks from July 6, 2026 to August 7, 2026 . Reports To: This position reports to the Director of Extended School Year and Expanded Learning in the Office of Specialized Services. For questions, email . Note: Hiring for ESY requires a commitment to the full program length of July 6, 2026 to August 7, 2026 . Assignments may involve working at different sites as staffing needs arise. Flexibility in location is required. Key Responsibilities Program Leadership and Vision + Provides leadership, administration and management at the assigned program site. + Oversees critical program components, including hiring, curriculum planning, and all operations. + Builds and advances a vision informed by student data, family input, and best practice research, with a clear focus on advancing racial equity. + Provides on-site program supervision until all students have been safely dismissed. Instructional Oversight and Equity + Ensures the implementation of ESY IEP goals, objectives, and services as outlined in the IEP. + Supervises, supports, and provides feedback to ensure high-quality instruction by participating in frequent classroom observations and walkthroughs and modeling of effective instructional practices when necessary. + Facilitates staff professional development related to instructional practices. + Monitors and ensures staff use quality, equitable, and culturally responsive instructional practices. + Consistently analyze and use student data to guide the delivery of IEP services. . + Collaborate with the ABA program to ensure the implementation and monitoring of behavioral support plans, safety plans, and ABA services. Operational Management and Safety + Manage and implement effective processes for student safety, health, and wellness. + Implement the Code of Discipline and maintain the safety and security of the building and grounds. + Supervise the arrival and departure of students, as well as student behavior in all common areas. + Manage daily operations, including student and staff information, attendance, payroll, and timesheets using approved ESY data systems. + Prepare and maintain the site's master schedule and coordinate with related service providers. + Coordinate purchases and delivery of necessary supplies and equipment. Staff Management and Development + Oversee site hiring and ensure full staffing readiness prior to the program start. + Create a supportive, team-oriented culture to increase staff engagement in student outcomes. + Practice, model, and encourage distributed and shared leadership, providing coaching and clear pathways for staff growth. + Facilitate the growth of individuals through ongoing, actionable feedback and support. + Supervise substitute teachers, ensuring coverage, updated folders and provide actionable feedback and support. Compliance, Communication, and Partnerships + Adhere to ESY handbook policies, Superintendent Circulars, and Special Education Handbook protocols, ensuring adherence to legal regulations and union workplace guidelines. + Monitor and respond promptly to email, GChat, and phone communications from the Central Office, ESY staff, and families. + Maintain confidentiality and privacy of all student-specific information. + Build authentic relationships with students, families, and communities, and plan family engagement activities to support student attendance and participation. + Coordinate and oversee Open House activities at the assigned site. + Supervise and ensure timely completion, approval, and finalization of all student progress report data collection within required data systems. Pre- and Post-Program Responsibilities (Marchu2013August 2026) + Pre-Program: Attend assigned interview sessions and team meetings/Professional Development sessions as directed. Collaborate with the Director and designated administrators on program planning. Receive, organize, and distribute all instructional materials and supplies. + Safety Care Training : Provide Safety Care Trainings that are made available to all ESY staff prior to the program. Staff must fully support 2 initial training or 4 recertification training between Aprilu2013June 2026, conducted with an experienced safety care trainer. This is a mandatory requirement for all ESY staff. Training may occur evenings and weekends; plan schedules accordingly. + On-Site Setup: Be on-site one (1) day before setup/Open House for building oversight, supply organization, and launch preparation. + Post-Program: Be on-site one (1) day after the program ends to conduct full building walkthroughs, ensuring the site is returned to the appropriate condition for the returning principal and staff. Ensure all materials have been packed properly and ready for pick-up. Prepare and submit final reports and statistics of school operations Terms + The individual who is hired to this position agrees to the 2026 BPS Summer Employment Terms (. + Position is paid $60/hour on the Boston Public Schools bi-weekly payroll schedule. + Pre - work will be paid at a flat rate of $3000. + Post - work will be paid at a flat rate of $500 + All staff must sign the 2026 ESY Job Description Sign Off Form ( to acknowledge their understanding of the expectations and terms. + Additional hours beyond the standard 7-hour day require approval from the Director and/or Executive Director of ESY & Expanded Learning. + Electronic sign-in procedures are required for audit and payroll purposes. + Failure to report to work during instructional days will result in loss of pay and possible termination. + BASAS members must complete all required S6500 days by the end of the school year. + Job offers are conditional on sufficient student enrollment/attendance. Qualifications u2013 Required + Bacheloru2019s degree. + Candidates must hold one of the following credentials: a Massachusetts Educator License in Moderate Disabilities, Severe Disabilities, Early Childhood, Special Education, or Special Education Administration; or certification/licensure as a Behavior Analyst, Licensed Mental Health Counselor, Social Worker, Psychologist, Speech-Language Pathologist, or Occupational Therapist. + Experience managing staff and maintaining student/staff safety protocols. + Proficiency in Google Docs, Sheets, and Forms. + Certified Safety Care trainer per the Superintendent of Boston Public Schools. + Instructional leadership experience: supervising educators, providing feedback, and fostering a collaborative work environment. + Authorization to work in the U.S. Qualifications u2013 Preferred + Minimum five years of teaching/administrative experience. + Current administrator or teacher in BPS or another school district. + Prior supervisory experience in BPS ESY or similar programs. + Linguistic diversity is valued; fluency in Spanish, Creole (Cape Verdean/Haitian), Chinese, Vietnamese, Portuguese, or Somali is a plus.
