Intern Engineer - Summer 2026

This opportunity entails being responsible for assisting assigned department(s) and/or project(s) by performing basic engineering related tasks which may reflect elements of standard post-secondary engineering curriculum. In addition to the basic activities listed in the job description, support to the Strategic Technology section may include: - data-driven analyses supporting infrastructure and planning projects. - Work with structured datasets (primarily in Excel) related to asset inventories, scenario evaluations, and benefitu2011cost or comparative analyses. - Update, organize, and validate project data; develop summary tables, descriptive statistics, and basic visualizations for internal and client use. -Developing maps, figures, and layouts using GIS software (e.g., ArcGIS Pro) for data visualization, presentation, and simple spatial analyses. - Research, documentation, and preparation of technical materials, exhibits, and reports. Relocation are not provided for this position. What Youu2019ll Do: + Assists engineer teams in various tasks and duties. + Assists Engineer with research, development and design of projects. + Assists Engineer with the preparation of engineering drawings and documents as assigned. + Performs other duties as assigned. What Youu2019ll Need: + High School Diploma/GED or equivalent plus current enrollment in an accredited post-secondary engineering program What You'll Bring: + Basic understandingofengineering,mathematical, statistical, or analytical principles. + Proficiencywith Microsoft Office Suite; ability to organize, update, summarize, and present data effectively. + Interestin working with datasets to support planning, engineering, or policyu2011focused infrastructure analyses. + Familiarity with GIS concepts and geospatial data; introductory experience using ArcGIS Pro or similar software is a plus. + Ability to follow direction, work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams, and apply feedback from peers and supervisors. + Strong attention to detail and ability to translate data into clear tables, figures, or maps for communication purposes. What We Prefer: + Completion of 2 years of post-secondary engineering program + Coursework or experience related to transportation planning, infrastructure systems, data analytics, economics, GIS, or business analysis. + Exposure to basic coding or scripting (e.g., Python, R) to support data analysis or automation is aplus, butnotrequired.
