Pharmacy Clinical Specialist - Investigational Drugs

This Ohio-based role does not involve compounding and instead focuses on protocol review, order verification, medication dispensing and strict adherence to regulatory and safety requirements for patients enrolled in approved study protocols. The specialist collaborates closely with physicians, research teams, study coordinators, pharmacy technicians, pharmacy informatics, pharmaceutical sponsors and internal pharmacy teams to ensure investigational medications are built accurately in Epic and meet FDA, IRB and institutional standards. This role offers direct exposure to cutting-edge therapies, a high level of autonomy and the opportunity to serve as a subject matter expert for investigational medications that may later become standard of care.A caregiver in this role will work Monday through Friday from 7:00am to 3:30pm with no holiday or on-call requirements. Weekend rotations occur every 8th weekend to provide coverage for inpatient/centralized pharmacy support, including verifying and taking calls.A caregiver who excels in this role will:Routinely and continually provide pharmaceutical care for patients, considering their age and clinical condition.Provide general and patient specific drug information to patients, physicians,nurses and, and other health care professionals.Support Clinical Pharmacists in providing pharmaceutical care to patients by direct interaction and formal educational programs.Maintainexpertisein areas of practice through continual learning, journalreviewand other educational activities.Educate Clinical Pharmacists, Technicians, Pharmacy Students, Post-GraduateTraineesand other caregivers in Pharmacotherapywithin inthe specialty area.Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:PharmD orBachelor’s Degree in Pharmacyfrom an accredited college of PharmacyCurrent state licensure as a Registered Pharmacist (RPh) or eligible within90 daysof hireCurrent Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) and completion of a Board of Pharmacy approved course in the administration of immunizations or certification obtained within90 daysof hire (if administering immunizations)Completion of a Post-Graduate Year 2 Residency (PGY2) or fellowship OR completion of a Post-Graduate Year 1 Residency (PGY-1) and two years of experience as a Clinical Specialist or an equivalent role, including providing pharmaceutical care and performing pharmacotherapeutic monitoring for at least 50% of time in the specialty area OR four years of experience as a Clinical Specialist or an equivalent role, including providing pharmaceutical care and performing pharmacotherapeutic monitoring for at least 50% of time in the specialty areaPreferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:Board certificationPGY1 + at least 2 years of experience preferredPGY2 in Investigational Drugs idealPhysical Requirements:Typical physical demands include ability to perform the job while standing and walking for prolonged times, approximately 75% of shift and continuously for extended periods of time.Manual dexterity sufficient to perform computer and dispensing functions of the job; ability to lift up to 30 lbs.Position often includes reaching, stretching, stooping, climbing steps and sitting.Must have normal or corrected vision.Must have ability toclearly communicate verbally by phone or in personPersonal Protective Equipment:Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.Pay RangeMinimum Annual Salary: $101,900.00Maximum Annual Salary: $155,390.00The pay range displayed on this job posting reflects the anticipated range for new hires.
