The Department of Podiatry is seeking a third Surgical Podiatrist to join a high-volume, predominantly inpatient service dedicated to complex limb salvage at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania (HUP). This position is designed for a mid-career podiatric surgeon who is deeply committed to limb preservation and thrives in a hospital-based environment managing advanced infections, critical limb ischemia, complex wounds, and urgent surgical pathology. This is not a traditional outpatient-focused practice. Rather, it is an inpatient-driven role embedded within a highly specialized multidisciplinary Limb Salvage service line, working in close collaboration with vascular surgery, infectious disease, internal medicine, plastic surgery, and other hospital-based teams. The position has been created in response to sustained growth and exceptional inpatient demand. The incoming surgical podiatrist will join two experienced podiatric surgeons and become an integral part of a robust, hospital-centered program devoted to high-acuity surgical care and advanced limb preservation. Position Overview + Exclusive inpatient surgical podiatry + Focus on limb salvage, infection, and amputation care + Majority of surgical cases are generated from inpatient consults requiring operative intervention + This role is ideal for surgeons who want to practice limb salvage exclusively Clinical Environment + Integral part of a multidisciplinary limb salvage program + Works closely with residents and fellows + One resident rotates on the service and assists in clinic and OR + Teaching and invited lectures Call Responsibilities + Inpatient call coverage at the University of Pennsylvania + Call is equitably distributed among the group + No trauma call Qualifications + Board Qualified required + Candidates actively pursuing board certification must already be board qualified + Board Certified preferred + American Board of Foot and Ankle Surgery (ABFAS) strongly preferred We believe that the best care for our patients starts with the best care for our employees.
