We want your knowledge and expertise Job Summary and Qualifications Position Summary The Product Design team is responsible for shaping complex healthcare software into intuitive, scalable, and technically sound products used across a nationwide ecosystem. The work spans strategy, systems thinking, interaction design, and hands-on executionu2014often across multiple interrelated products with significant technical and organizational complexity. The Staff Product Designer is a senior individual contributor who operates at the highest level of design craft and technical execution on the team. This role takes ownership of several of the most complex areas in the product portfolio, including products with challenging constraints, immature processes, or complicated cross-functional dynamics. Compared to a Senior Designer, this role is expected to navigate ambiguity more effectively, influence outcomes more consistently, and elevate the quality of decision-making across teams. This designer brings deep expertise in human-centered design, strong systems thinking, and a practical understanding of modern front-end development. They work fluently with engineers, understand how design decisions translate into production, and execute with a level of rigor appropriate for large-scale, long-lived products. This is not a people management role. Instead, the Staff Product Designer leads through example, influence, and craft excellence, setting an aspirational bar for quality, communication, and technical depth across the design organization. Major Responsibilities: Product & Design Leadership u2022 Own design execution across multiple related products that represent some of the most complex or high-risk areas of the portfolio. u2022 Partner closely with product management and engineering to shape experience strategy and solution direction, serving as a primary design influence while collaborating within established decision-making models. u2022 Lead teams through ambiguity, helping immature or evolving product teams arrive at more strategic, cohesive outcomes than they would reach independently. u2022 Act as a design lead on one or more product teams, guiding work from early discovery through production and iteration. Design Execution & Craft Excellence u2022 Execute at the highest level of design craft on the team, producing high-quality: o User journeys and flows o Information architecture o Wireframes and high-fidelity visual designs o Interactive prototypes and design specifications u2022 Balance momentum with quality, prioritizing durable, scalable solutions over short-term expediency. u2022 Translate complex requirements into clear, elegant experiences while accounting for technical constraints and long-term maintainability. Technical Fluency & Collaboration u2022 Collaborate deeply with front-end engineers, with a strong understanding of component-based development and modern frameworks. u2022 Design with awareness of implementation details such as React or Vue component models and utility-first styling approaches like Tailwind CSS. u2022 Leverage AI-assisted design and development tools to accelerate exploration, prototyping, and iteration, with the ability to adapt quickly as tooling evolves. u2022 Ensure design intent is accurately realized in production through close partnership with engineering Design Systems Contribution u2022 Contribute meaningfully to a shared design system, working in partnership with Design Operations and Engineering. u2022 Apply system components thoughtfully while knowing when and how to extend patterns responsibly. u2022 Help improve system adoption and quality through clear usage, strong examples, and technically informed decision-making. Influence, Communication & Mentorship u2022 Lead by example in design quality, communication, and presentation. u2022 Provide thoughtful feedback and guidance to junior designers through critique, collaboration, and informal mentorship. u2022 Communicate design rationale clearly and persuasively to a wide range of stakeholders, including senior leaders. u2022 Influence quality and outcomes through clarity of thinking, strong storytelling, and calm authority in complex discussions. u2022 Performs other duties as assigned u2022 Practices and adheres to the u201cCode of Conductu201d philosophy and u201cMission and Value Statement.u201d Education & Experience: u2022 Bachelor's degree in human computer interaction, user experience, product design, graphic design, or associated field required. + Bachelors Degree, or Work Experience in lieu of Degree u2022 5+ years of experience in user experience or design-related role(s) required Or equivalent combination of education and/or experience Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, Behaviors: u2022 Deep expertise in human-centered design principles and UX best practices.
