Location: Syracuse, NY Category: Faculty Posted On: Fri Jan 16 2026 Job Description: The Department of Business & Entrepreneurship requires a full-time professor able to teach management, operations, entrepreneurship, leadership, culinary principles, bakery principles, and human resources. The position has the essential job functions required of all full-time faculty: teaching, student advising & mentoring, and service. The successful candidate will possess strong management and team building expertise, enhance the department's diversity, and be able to relate to our diverse student population. The successful candidate will be qualified to teach several of the following classes. Programs: Business Administration (A.S.) - SUNY Onondaga Community College; Business Entrepreneurship (A.A.S). -SUNY Onondaga Community College; Culinary Management (A.A.S.). + BUS-101 Introduction to Business + BUS-230 Principles of Management + BUS-231 Human Resource Management + ENT-101 Entrepreneurial Studies I + ENT-201 Entrepreneurial Studies II + FSA-103C Culinary Principles with lab + FSA-103B Bakery Principles with lab + FSA-230 Entrepreneurship in Hospitality with lab MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES: + Be responsive to student questions and available for student support + Use appropriate technology to enhance learning + Assess learning outcomes and adapt curriculum to meet learning objectives + Demonstrate insight and encouragement in working with diverse student populations, especially students traditionally underrepresented in higher education + Provide appropriate academic advising to students to support timely degree completion + Be innovative in the presentation of lectures and hands-on learning activities that achieve learning outcomes + Provide timely feedback on students' assignments and exams throughout each semester + Be accountable to meet the needs of the Department and the College, including timely submission of grades and other required materials. Job Requirements: MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Appointment at the Rank of Assistant Professor: + Candidates must have earned a master's degree in business administration (MBA) from an accredited university, college or foreign equivalency. Additional degrees or certifications demonstrate a breadth of learning, experience, and professional development will enhance an applicant's candidacy. + Valid National Restaurant Association ServSafe Food Protection Manager Certificate. + Previous college teaching experience in face-to-face and online (synchronous and asynchronous) modalities are required in Business, Entrepreneurship, and Culinary Management. + Small business owner with at least 10 years' experience as a small business owner in the food service industry such as sandwich shops, bakery and/or food truck owner. + Curriculum development and assessment mapping experience at the college level. + Practical work experience in the fields of business, leadership, management operations, food service, small business owner, and human resources is required. + The successful candidate will combine mastery of business, entrepreneurial leadership, management, operations, and human resources theory with a demonstrated history and strong working knowledge of how the concepts apply in practice. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS + MBA and a master's degree in education (M.Ed.) from an accredited university, college or foreign equivalency. + Experience in curriculum development at the college level. + Quality Matters (QM) online certification and experience in Brightspace D2L LMS. + Bilingual in Spanish & English. English and another language will be considered. The successful candidate will demonstrate their passion for teaching and mentoring students and their ability to connect with historically underrepresented student populations.
