The Pharmacy Clinical Specialist - Investigational Drug is a highly specialized role within the Investigational Drug Services (IDS) team, supporting the review, oversight and regulatory compliance of investigational medications used in clinical trials that are not yet FDA approved. This Ohio-based role does not involve compounding and instead focuses on protocol review, order verification, medication dispensing and strict adherence to regulatory and safety requirements for patients enrolled in approved study protocols. The specialist collaborates closely with physicians, research teams, study coordinators, pharmacy technicians, pharmacy informatics, pharmaceutical sponsors and internal pharmacy teams to ensure investigational medications are built accurately in Epic and meet FDA, IRB and institutional standards. This role offers direct exposure to cutting-edge therapies, a high level of autonomy and the opportunity to serve as a subject matter expert for investigational medications that may later become standard of care. A caregiver in this role will work Monday through Friday from 7:00am to 3:30pm with no holiday or on-call requirements. Weekend rotations occur every 8th weekend to provide coverage for inpatient/centralized pharmacy support, including verifying and taking calls. A caregiver who excels in this role will: + Routinely and continually provide pharmaceutical care for patients, considering their age and clinical condition. + Provide general and patient specific drug information to patients, physicians, nurses and, and other health care professionals. + Support Clinical Pharmacists in providing pharmaceutical care to patients by direct interaction and formal educational programs. + Maintain expertise in areas of practice through continual learning, journal review and other educational activities. + Educate Clinical Pharmacists, Technicians, Pharmacy Students, Post-Graduate Trainees and other caregivers in Pharmacotherapy within in the specialty area. Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include: + PharmD or Bachelor's Degree in Pharmacy from an accredited college of Pharmacy + Current state licensure as a Registered Pharmacist (RPh) or eligible within 90 days of hire + CurrentBasic Life Support (BLS) Certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) andcompletion of a Board of Pharmacy approved course inthe administration of immunizations or certificationobtained within 90 days of hire (if administering immunizations) + Completion of a Post-Graduate Year 2 Residency (PGY2) or fellowship OR completion of a Post-Graduate Year 1 Residency (PGY-1) and two years of experience as a Clinical Specialist or an equivalent role, including providing pharmaceutical care and performing pharmacotherapeutic monitoring for at least 50% of time in the specialty area OR four years of experience as a Clinical Specialist or an equivalent role, including providing pharmaceutical care and performing pharmacotherapeutic monitoring for at least 50% of time in the specialty area Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include: + Board certification + PGY1 + at least 2 years of experience preferred + PGY2 in Investigational Drugs ideal Physical Requirements : + Typical physical demands include ability to perform the job while standing and walking for prolonged times, approximately 75% of shift and continuously for extended periods of time. + Manual dexterity sufficient to perform computer and dispensing functions of the job; ability to lift up to 30 lbs. + Position often includes reaching, stretching, stooping, climbing steps and sitting. + Must have normal or corrected vision. + Must have ability to clearly communicate verbally by phone or in person Personal Protective Equipment : + Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required. Pay Range Minimum Annual Salary: $101,900.00 Maximum Annual Salary: $155,390.00 The pay range displayed on this job posting reflects the anticipated range for new hires. A successful candidate's actual compensation will be determined after taking factors into consideration such as the candidate's work history, experience, skill set and education. The pay range displayed does not include any applicable pay practices (e.g., shift differentials, overtime, etc.).
