Your recruiter will provide the most up-to-date details during the hiring process.Responsibilities Ascension Providence is looking for a Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation physician to serve as the Medical Director for our new inpatient rehabilitation unit. Ideally, this physician also could establish an outpatient clinic practice and see pain management patients as well.This is a great opportunity for the right candidate to partner with Ascension Providence to provide medical services to patients in Waco, Texas. Waco has been recognized as the “Heart of Texas," and is situated on the I-35 corridor between Dallas and Austin with scores of shops and restaurants galore along with excellent parks, a supportive business environment, a low crime rate, diverse housing options, and top-ranked schools.Responsibilities:Serves as the Medical Director for inpatient rehabilitation services. Leads interdisciplinary team conferences.Monitors ongoing health and progress of patients, and changing treatment plans as necessary.Evaluates and treats patients with appropriate medical diagnostic and treatment skills. Coordinates discharge planning with case management.Recommends, participates in, and works to ensure the success of efforts to improve cost effectiveness and quality of care provided to patients.Accepts patient referrals from other physicians. Would also prefer candidates that are open to integrate and round on the medical/surgical acute floors to consult on potential rehabilitation admits. Model established allows for PM&R physician to design practice style as admitting, attending and/or consulting physicians for patients who require hospitalization for primary medical diagnoses, depending on needs of patients, medical staff and hospital. Have an existing medical staff comfortable with attending and medically managing patients, allowing PM&R to not have call coverage expectations, manage PM&R directed goals and gains, and run weekly case conferences.Provides appropriate documentation that meets insurance company requirements; appeal all denials in a timely manner.Participates in inpatient and outpatient consultation for specialty, which may include on call schedules.Provides outpatient clinic follow up, and pain management services for patients seeking treatment.About WacoLocated halfway between Dallas and Austin and 3 hours from San Antonio and HoustonIt is an important destination for education, manufacturing, and cultural eventsWaco is home to three local colleges/universitiesExcellent public, private, and parochial schoolsWaco proudly has cultural sites and events such as the Cameron Park Zoo, Cameron Park, Waco Mammoth Site, Waco Symphony Orchestra, Ironman Competitions, and the quaint Waco Farmers Market.Requirements Licensure / Certification / Registration:Physician MD/DO credentialed from the Texas Medical Board required.
