General Machine Operator (GMA) Location: Marne, MICompany: DeWys ManufacturingReports To: VBU Team Lead About the Role DeWys Manufacturing is seeking a dependable General Machine Operator to join our sheet metal fabrication team in Marne, MI. This role is ideal for mechanically inclined individuals who enjoy hands-on work, take pride in quality, and want to grow their skills in a modern manufacturing environment. You will operate a variety of fabrication equipment—including Haeger insertion machines, PEM setters, grinders, and rollers—to produce high-quality metal components. While experience with this specific equipment is a plus, we value candidates with general machine operation experience who are motivated to learn. On-the-job training is provided, along with opportunities for skill development and advancement. What You’ll Do Machine Operation Set up and operate Haeger insertion machines, PEM setters, grinders, and rollers to meet production specifications Monitor machine performance and make minor adjustments to ensure consistent quality Read and follow work orders, job instructions, and production schedules Quality Control Inspect finished parts to ensure they meet dimensional and visual quality standards Use basic measuring tools such as calipers, rulers, and gauges to verify tolerances Identify and report defects or inconsistencies promptly Material Handling Load raw materials and unload finished parts efficiently and safely Stage and organize materials to support smooth production flow Maintenance & Troubleshooting Perform basic machine maintenance, including cleaning and routine upkeep Recognize minor mechanical issues and escalate more complex concerns to maintenance or leadership Safety & Organization Follow all safety procedures, including PPE and machine guarding requirements Comply with OSHA standards and DeWys Manufacturing safety policies Maintain a clean, organized, and efficient work area What We’re Looking For Required Qualifications High school diploma or GED Some experience operating machinery in a manufacturing or fabrication environment Mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn new equipment Ability to work independently and as part of a team Comfortable using hand tools and basic measurement instruments Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and stand for extended periods Preferred Qualifications Experience with Haeger insertion machines, PEM setters, grinders, or rollers Basic understanding of blueprints, work orders, or shop drawings Forklift certification or willingness to obtain certification Work Environment Manufacturing production floor with moderate to loud noise levels Exposure to machinery, metal dust, and varying shop temperatures Physically active role involving standing, bending, lifting, and walking throughout the shift Why DeWys Manufacturing Hands-on training and skill development opportunities Stable work environment with a focus on safety and quality Team-oriented culture that values reliability, craftsmanship, and continuous improvement
