Welcome to a South Beach Icon, Reimagined.Purpose:Responsible for providing exceptionally enjoyable and safe pool experience for resort guests commensurate with the demands and expectations of a four-star hotel. Directs the provision of pool services, including towel issuance and inventory control as well as shift pool and aquatic operations. Maintains the cleanliness and physical appearance of pool area.Essential Functions and Responsibilities:Directly manages the operations and staff of all Recreation, Fitness Center, and Aquatics programs, ensuring complete compliance with hotel safety, service, and grooming standardsOversees the operation of the swimming pool areaOversees the pool programs such as towel issue, retail sales at the pool, and Attendant service programs (escort to chairs, cool spritz, etc.)Interviews and recruits all Recreation employees and Recreation vendorsReviews and submits vendor contracts to Director’s approval prior to the hiring and scheduling of an activityEstablishes, ensures adherence to all departmental and Loews Hotels guidelines, policies, and proceduresEvaluates changes in guest needs, the hotel’s guest mix, and industry and competitive trends to recommend appropriate product/service and operational changes to be made to ensure guest and employee satisfaction, and to maintain market dominance and exceptional financial returnsPrepares seasonal recreation activity schedules and participates in the planning and development of holiday and special event programsWorks with meeting planners to schedule group recreational activities and prepares activity event ordersEnsures proper posting of activities and special event informationMaintains optimal staffing levels within forecasted budgetary guidelinesPrepares weekly schedule for departmentCompletes appropriate shift reportsReviews/maintains daily payroll records/reportsDevelops annual goals for all department managersEvaluates individual employee performance, determining improvement and training needs and advancement requirementsCommunicates information about hotel and recreation programs to all guest contact departments to facilitate greater utilization and to promote incremental revenuesPrepares Daily Calendar of Resort Activities and provides copies to Housekeeping department for nightly turndown distributionEnsures recreation programs are executed in accordance with all hotel and safety guidelinesInspects the general appearance and functionality of all activities/recreation spaces including sanitation, temperature, lighting, and musical elementsPrepares annual departmental budget and manages departmental costs, updating budget if operational forecasts change significantlyOversees and ensures accuracy of all cashier functionsManage directly and ensure compliance of Aquatics Training ProgramResponsible for accurate recording and submittal of payroll informationSchedules and coordinates monthly recreation staff meetingsAttends all appropriate meetings: department, pre-convention, front office, training sessionsMaintains the clean and excellent working condition of the following areas: pool deck, fitness center, game room, and any other planned recreational activity spacePromotes and applies teamwork skills at all timesNotifies appropriate individual promptly and fully of problems and/or unusual matters of significanceIs polite, friendly, and helpful to guests, management and fellow employeesExecutes emergency procedures in accordance with hotel standardsComplies with required safety regulations and proceduresAttends appropriate hotel meetings and training sessionsMaintains cleanliness and excellent condition of equipment and work areaComplies with hotel standards, policies and rulesRecycles whenever possibleRemains current with hotel information and changesComplies with hotel uniform and grooming standardsOther duties as assignedQualifications:Prior Recreation/Aquatics Management/Supervisory Experience - RequiredMinimum Five years recreation/aquatics management experiencePrevious experience as department head overseeing recreation and aquatics programsExcellent communication skills-oral and writtenStrong leadership skillsFirst Aid and CPR certificationExperience in high volume pool/ recreation facilityAble to work a flexible schedule, including weekends and holidaysEducation: Associates DegreeAbout UsHeadquartered in New York City, Loews Hotels & Co is rooted in deep heritage in the hotel industry and excellence in service.
