Be a part of a world-class academic health-caresystem at UChicago Medicine as a Cardiac Sonographer II in the Pediatric Heart Station Department. The Cardiac Sonographer IIperforms all aspects of echocardiographic imaging for clinical and research purposes under the general supervision of the Medical Director of the Noninvasive Cardiac Imaging Laboratory in addition to extensive responsibilities performing and teaching advanced imaging techniques to Level 1 and 2 Sonographers.Essential Job Functions:Prepare patients for cardiac ultrasound examinations. Performs complete cardiac ultrasound examinations and stress testing. Uses ISCVdigital archiving system for measurements.Submits accurate charges for all performed examinations. Performs examinations in adherence to the department objectives and policies. Communicates with patients and fellow employees in a professional and supportive manner.Helps train Cardiac Sonographers at Level 1Actively participates in process improvement activitiesInvolved in research and publications to be at the cutting edge of the fieldPerforms other duties as assigned.Required Qualifications:Minimum of 2 years of clinical experience outside school hours in cardiac sonography.Accreditation with ARDMS or CCI. Passed boards.Ability to independently perform comprehensive examinations Excellent written and verbal communications skillsBasic computer skills to work with the Xcelera digital archiving systemFrom 5 to 10 years’ experience required in ultrasound procedures equipment, CW Doppler, and related anatomy and pathological conditions of the heart, valves, pericardium, and blood vessels.BLS certification and Registration by the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) or by Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI) and pass the registry within one year ofhire.Prepare quantitative echocardiographic measurements for reporting.Interpretation skills to facilitate a comprehensive examination and an accurate preliminary interpretationIndependently perform a complete transthoracic examination with appropriate use of contrast whennecessary.Computer literate in order to work with applicable software.Proficient in echo strain analysis.Participates in advanced structural heart procedures.Accurate identification of anatomy on 3D imaging.Demonstrates responsibility for checking orders and obtaining orders for testing.Performs complete cardiac echocardiograms, stress testing, as well as assists with 2D transesophagealexaminations.Position Details:Job Type/FTE: Full Time, 1.00FTEShift: DaysWork Location: OnsiteUnit/Department: Heart Station PediatricCBA Code: Non-UnionWe’ve been at the forefront of medicine since 1899.
