Job Description

CNC Programmer- Swiss (Hartville, OH) Swiss Programmers and Machinists- a Swiss machinist is a specialist who operates and programs Swiss-style CNC lathes (precision machines designed for producing small, complex parts with tight tolerances)- This is what we need u2013 the Swiss mindset- someone who can set up the machinery, selecting tools, program the machine (often in G-code), adjusting parameters, and inspecting work to ensure parts meet strict quality standards. Swiss machinists are known for their expertise in working with delicate materials and intricate geometries, making them essential for manufacturing high-precision components. Medical Device Manufacturer is in need of a Swiss Machinist to own set up and programming for a new Nexturn SA 32xIII Swiss-style lathe equipped with Fanuc controls. In this hands-on role, you will develop, modify, and troubleshoot CNC programs to produce complex, tight-tolerance parts for critical medical device applications. You will collaborate closely with engineering and production teams to ensure parts meet strict quality, regulatory, and documentation standards in a fast-paced, small-team environment. This person will bring vital skills to the team maintaining quality standards, meeting production deadlines, and minimizing operational costs across production. This is a new company and an incredibly young team, a perfect set up would be models that had no issues, but that's not the environment here- they need a very, very versatile, u201cmaster-levelu201d CNC programmer - someone with deep expertise who can handle complex setups, troubleshooting, and training others. Ability to program from incomplete or messy prints/models and adapt to unique machine setups and work without on-machine simulation. Strong communication skills to bridge gaps between engineering and machining. This Swiss machine, and other CNC machines used are unique, they run on Fanuc controllers and do not have simulators on the machine itself (they do use Mastercam with a simulator on the computer - but this is different from having an on-machine simulation). Swiss equipment can be finicky, so experience with troubleshooting and adjusting for machine quirks is important. Key Responsibilities: Program, set up, and optimize the Nexturn SA 32xIII Swiss CNC lathe (Fanuc control) to manufacture medical device components from a variety of materials (e.g., stainless steel, titanium, polymers). Develop and prove out new and existing CNC programs to achieve precise dimensions, surface finishes, and critical features. Edit and troubleshoot G-code/M-code programs at the machine, making necessary adjustments for production efficiency and quality. Lead initial setups, including tool selection, offsets, part fixturing, and run first-article inspections. Work with engineering to interpret detailed blueprints, drawings, and customer requirements. Perform in-process inspections and proactively adjust processes to ensure compliance with close tolerances and dimensional requirements. Document processes, setup sheets, and maintain revisions for traceability in compliance with ISO 13485 and FDA requirements. Train and support entry-level operators on best practices, safe operation, and quality standards. Participate in root cause investigations and support the team in eliminating defects and improving processes. Follow all company policies and procedures. Utilizing various kinds of inspection equipment and hold tolerances of +-.0005. Continuous improvement practices to help workflow and minimize scrap.
