API Developer Location: Quincy, MA Long term contract 37.5 hours per week Rate is $60/hr (benefits available for W2 consultants) The Client seeks an API Developer with strong Java and Spring Boot microservices experience who can also support some DevOps activities such as deployments, configuration management, and environment support. This role encompasses both development and DevOps responsibilities. Key Responsibilities : + Design, develop, and maintain RESTful APIs using Java 8+ and Spring Boot. + Build and enhance microservices that consume JSON payloads from multiple external agencies + Implement business logic based on agency, notice type, and payload data. + Implement robust error handling, logging, and retry mechanisms. + Write unit and integration tests to ensure reliability and quality. DevOps & Deployment + Support CI/CD pipelines for Spring Boot microservices. + Perform application deployments across DEV, QA, UAT, and PROD environments. + Manage and update environment-specific configurations (externalized properties). + Work with GitLab and CI tools (GIT, JIRA, Jenkins). + Monitor application logs on AWS, troubleshoot deployment issues, and support production fixes. Required Experience and Skills + A total of 7+ years of experience with 5+ years of hands-on API/backend development and 3-4 years of real DevOps exposure. + Strong experience in Java 8 or above. + Hands-on expertise with SpringBoot and Microservices. + Experience building and consuming REST APIs. + Good understanding of JSON, HTTP, and third-party integrations. + Experience with CI/CD, deployments, and configuration management. + Working knowledge of Linux environments and application troubleshooting. + Cloud deployments (AWS/Azure/GCP) + Monitoring & Logging (Cloudwatch, Prometheus, Grafana. ELK).
