Position SummaryAnglin Consulting Group is seeking a Junior FOIA Contractor to support the processing of Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) requests for a federal government agency. The Junior FOIA Contractor will conduct initial reviews, perform searches for responsive records, draft response materials, and apply FOIA exemptions under the supervision of senior staff. This position contributes to maintaining workflow efficiency, ensuring accuracy, and supporting timely completion of FOIA tasks.ResponsibilitiesSupport the processing of FOIA requests by conducting initial reviews and performing searches for responsive recordsDraft response materials and apply FOIA exemptions accurately and consistently under supervisionCommunicate with FOIA requesters for clarification or additional informationConduct internet and records research to support FOIA search and review activitiesMaintain accurate records within the agency's FOIA system of recordPrepare and preserve copies of all written correspondence sent to requestersParticipate in daily FOIA team updates and meetingsComplete all required FOIA-specific training, including bi-weekly FOIA sessions and agency-specific system trainingMaintain training logs and meeting participation logsProcess Simple, Complex, Expedited, and Backlogged FOIA requests as assignedEnsure all correspondence is free of spelling and grammatical errors and aligns with agency standardsMinimum QualificationsAssociate degree (additional FOIA experience may substitute for degree requirements)One (1) year of FOIA request processing experience within the last 24 monthsAbility to apply FOIA exemptions accurately and consistentlyStrong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to draft clear, professional responsesProficiency with word processing, spreadsheet, presentation, and database toolsAbility to conduct effective internet and records researchPreferred QualificationsFOIA-related training or certificationsExperience with federal FOIA case management systems (FOIAXpress, eFOIA, FOIAonline, or similar)Experience processing FOIA requests for a federal agencyFamiliarity with the Privacy Act (5 U.S.C. 552a)
