UPMC Magee-Womens Hospital is seeking a Full Time Respiratory Therapist to support the Adult Team Our Adult Team at Magee-Womens Hospital cares for a wide variety of patients every shift, including medical/surgical, orthopedics, bariatric, gynecology/oncology, and geriatric. They also have the unique opportunity to care for new mothers on our obstetric units, and respond to the Emergency Department, PACU, and Cardiac and Respiratory Arrests. They are members of the Rapid Response and Difficult Airway teams, and participate in multidisciplinary rounding. Responsibilities: u00b7 Operate mechanical ventilators, therapeutic gas apparatus, and aerosol generators u00b7 Transport mechanically ventilated patients u00b7 Maintain patient charts u00b7 Assess patient condition and determine treatment requirements u00b7 Monitor patient responses to therapy u00b7 Perform bronchopulmonary drainage and breathing exercises u00b7 Conduct pulmonary function tests u00b7 Graduate of a Co ARC (Committee on Accreditation for Respiratory Care) approved Respiratory program required. o Students who have received a Temporary Practice Permit but have not yet graduated from a Co ARC approved Respiratory program are permitted to begin employment with approval from the Human Resources department. u00b7 Respiratory Care Practitioner (RCP) license in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania required Basic Life Support or Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation required Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRTT) from the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC) required prior to expiration of temporary practice permit. o Respiratory therapists who receive their CRT credential from the NBRC after July 1, 2002, are required to maintain certification under the NBRC requirements Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances: u00b7 CPR required based on AHA standards that include both a didactic and skills demonstration component within 30 days of hire u00b7 Basic Life Support (BLS) OR Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) u00b7 Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT) OR Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT)Respiratory Care Practitioners (RCP) u00b7 Act 33 with renewal u00b7 Act 34 with renewal u00b7 Act 73 FBI Clearance UPMC is an Equal Opportunity Employer/Disability/Veteran.
