THE JOB Venue Security maintains the safety and security of all staff, artists, vendors, and guests during concerts as well as special events.Venue Security will work concerts & events in the music hall, Foundation Room, and Restaurant spaceat Citizens House of Blues Boston.Part-time position starting at $20 per hour.WHAT THIS ROLE WILL DOConduct checks of guests and their belongings with metal detectors and pat downs to ensure that no prohibited or harmful items enter the venueCheck identification of any guest who appears to be under 30 years of age who are drinking alcoholic beverages inside the venueIdentify improper behavior and questionable individuals, alerting managementCommunicate clearly using radios, hand signals and flashlights. Remain in constant contact throughout the shiftSupport venue staff members in handling situations that arise in the cases of disorderly conduct, verbal or physical altercationsAssist with crowd control, keeping a good flow and avoid crowdingPrevent and resolve altercations among guests using de-escalation tactics. When required, assist with the removal of guests from the premisesSetting up and breaking down stanchions, bike racks, metal detectors, etc.Safeguard against theft and property damageDuring certain events, assist patrons over barricadesIn the event of a building emergency, be prominent in the safe evacuation of guests and staff under the direction of managementAfter events, carry out security rounds of all areas of the facility, ensuring a safe environment and that all guests have cleared the buildingWHAT THIS PERSON WILL BRINGRequired: One year experience working within a security fieldFlexible schedule with the ability to work late nights, weekends, and occasional morningsAbility to perform duties in a professional manner and appearanceAbility to make independent and good judgment decisions within proper policy and proceduresPosition requires extended periods of prolonged standing and working on your feetRead, write, and speak English fluentlyMust be able to lift or move up to 50 lbs+ using proper lifting techniquesMust be able to work in an environment that is fast paced, loud and at times stressfulMay occasionally be required to work outdoors in seasonal weather conditions Acceptance of all venue events which includes various cultures, music & art formsPreferred: Bi-lingualExperience working in a concert venue, barricade or in a live music environmentCustomer Service experienceExperience recognizing valid ID’sExperience in incident report documentationSelf-defense trainingExperience using metal detection equipmentCrowd Manager certificationAED/CPR certificationPhysical Demands/Working Environment:Working environment is fast-paced, often loud and stressfulPosition requires extended periods of prolonged standing and working on your feetMust be able to lift or move up to 25 lbs using proper lifting techniques
